Hawkins Playing Mind Games Nearing End of Night
The cutoff opened to 1,400 and Maurice Hawkins defended the big blind.

However, the cutoff did not check as he tossed a bet of 1,000 across the line. Hawkins called.
The Q♥ hit the turn and Hawkins checked again while saying, "we have the same hand, free river." This time his opponent checked back.
The 9♦ fell on the river and Hawkins led for 3,300.
"Now we play the game of do you believe me."
After a few moments, it seemed the cutoff did believe him as he tossed his cards into the muck.
Hawkins showed one of his cards, tabling the J♣ and mucked the other.
