Matakis and Pohnke Collide in Titanic Pot

Niveau 15 : Blinds 1,250/2,500, 0 ante
Ian Matakis
Ian Matakis

Thomas "Pohnkemon" Pohnke opened from the hijack to 7,500 and received a call from Ian "IanMa" Matakis, the winner of Online Event #2: $500 No-Limit Hold'em Bankroll Builder.

Both players checked the 245 flop leading to the K on the turn. Pohnke bet 7,500 and Matakis raised to 30,312 and Pohnke three-bet to 109,686. Matakis moved all in for 135,038 and Pohnke called off with a covering stack to put Matakis at risk in a pot worth nearly 300,000.

Ian "IanMa" Matakis: AA73
Thomas "Pohnkemon" Pohnke" AAK3

Both players had made a wheel on the flop for the second-nuts, but Matakis was freerolling his opponent as he also had a gutshot to a higher straight. The 6 river was exactly what Matakis needed to take down a gargantuan pot and leave Pohnke with a short stack.
