Erik Seidel Eliminated in 21st Place ($26,007)

Niveau 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Erik Seidel

Poker Hall of Famer Erik Seidel has likely seen a lot during his illustrious playing career. Perhaps, that is why he took a bad beat in a good way.

Action picked up on the turn and a board showing Q102J.

Seidel checked and his opponent, Sami Bechahed, bet. Seidel responded with a check-raise to 450,000, which prompted Bechahed to come over the top with an all-in bet. Seidel, who was at risk, snap-called.

Erik Seidel: Q4 All in
Sami Bechahed: 97

Both players turned a flush, but Seidel’s flush was bigger.

“I have one out,” said Bechahed, who needed the 8 to complete a straight flush for the winning hand.

And the card arrived when the dealer placed the 8 on the river, much to the stunned disbelief of the table.

Seidel quietly offered a smile before exiting the area in 21st place, which paid out $26,007.

Ochana Hits 4,000,000

Niveau 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Sami Bechahed raised to 100,000 from the cutoff and Eddie Ochana three-bet from the button to 285,000. Mark Tarich cold-called out of the big blind, and Bechahed put in the extra chips.

All three players saw a flop of 536 which Tarich and Bechahed both checked. Ochana took the opportunity to bet and fired 325,000, which drew two quick folds from his opponents.

Hopkins Doubles Up

Niveau 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Joshua Hopkins was all in after the flop as it read 24J.

Joshua Hopkins: J2 All in
Daniyal Gheba: Q9

He would need to face the flush draw of Daniyal Gheba. The turn was the 10 to add to Gheba's outs but the river came the 6 to miss the draws and give Hopkins a needed double up.

Adi Abugazal Eliminated in 23rd Place ($26,007); Sebastien Grax Eliminated in 22nd Place ($26,007)

Sebastien Grax moved all in for his remaining stack at the cutoff position. The button folded, and then Adi Abugazal put in his short stack out the small blind.

Robert Burlacu peeked at his cards, and then asked the dealer for an exact count of Grax’s stack. The dealer counted out 460,000, which prompted Burlacu, who had both players covered, to call.

Adi Abugazal: 77 All in
Sebastien Grax: A2 All in
Robert Burlacu: A9

The dealer ran out J9J on the flop, giving Burlacu the lead with a bigger two pair than Abugazal. The 6 on the turn and 10 on the river sent Abuguzal and Grax to the rail.

Brian Rast Eliminated in 24th Place ($21,468)

Niveau 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Brian Rast
Brian Rast

Brian Rast and Taylor Black took it to a flop of 7J10 and all the chips went flying into the middle with Rast at risk.

Brian Rast: KQ All in
Taylor Black: Q9

Rast was in a great spot to double through Black but a K on the turn gave his opponent a straight. There were plenty of outs that Rast could hit but the Q wasn't one of them which meant he was eliminated in 24th.

Daniel Negreanu

The $25K Fantasy league is off to a hot start with seven of the 19 teams over 100 points as of June 4. Most of those were thanks to a handful of draftees hitting field bonuses in Event #5: $1,000 Mystery Millions, which attracted 18,409 entrants and became the sixth-largest poker tournament of all time.

PokerNews has been tracking $25K Fantasy players in our live updates, and has even made it simple to follow the action by tagging all players with a $25K Fantasy badge. That allows you to utilize our chip count filter option to follow only those players (just tick the $25K Fantasy badge); what’s more, each blog will have a “$25K Fantasy” tab that if you click all you will see are hands played by $25K Fantasy players.

As a result, we can capture some of the biggest, best, and most game-changing hands involving the $25K Fantasy roster. Here are five from the first week of action in the 2024 WSOP.
