Pedro Neves
Pedro Neves

In just a few hours, a new player will be crowned as the 2024 World Series of Poker Event #38: $1,500 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold'em champion, winning their first-ever gold bracelet and the $1,098,220 first-place prize. But who will this player be?

Out of a massive field of 8,703 entrants, only seven players successfully reached the final table and then qualified for Day 5. Among these players, the odds-on favorite is Portugal's Pedro Neves. After winning a 90,000,000 chip pot when there were 19 players left, his stack kept growing, and he secured a massive chip lead of 172,200,000. He is followed by Aaron Johnson with 101,000,000, while all the other players have, at most, half of Johnson's stack.
