Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.

Today sees the start of Event #42: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship here at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

This three-day event gets underway at 2 p.m. local time with late registration open until the start of Day 2. There will be 15-minute breaks after every two hours of play. There is no reentry in this event.

The starting stack is 60,000 chips and the plan for Day 1 is to play nine levels. For the surviving players and any late registrants, Day 2 resumes at 1 p.m. Sunday and ends after eight more levels play out. Day 3 is when a winner will be crowned.

The tournament has escalating level durations. Levels 1 to 3 are 40 minutes, Levels 4 to 13 are 60 minutes, and from Level 14 onwards, they increase to 90 minutes.

Last summer's champion was Brian Yoon, who topped the 131-entry field to capture his fifth bracelet and $311,433 from the $1,209,000 prize pool. He defeated Dan Shak in heads-up play after an extra day was needed to end proceedings.

“Honestly, I don’t try to bracelet hunt or anything like that," Yoon told PokerNews. "I’m just trying to play the tournaments and enjoy playing the games. It feels great, obviously, to be the 33rd player to get number five, so I’ll take it and see what happens in the future.”
