Jake Schwartz raised to 1,100 from the cutoff and only the small blind called.
Both players checked the 6♥5♥7♦ flop to see the J♦ come on the turn. This time the small blind led out for an overbet of 4,400. Schwartz called and they headed to the river.
The 2♦ river got checked through and the small blind turned over A♥9♣ for just ace-high. Schwartz took down the pot with 8♦8♥
Maria Konnikova opened to 1,200 from under the gun and Joe McKeehen three-bet to 4,000 from the button. Konnikova made the call.
The flop came 9♣5♥2♠ and Konnikova check-called a 3,100 continuation bet from McKeehen.
Konnikova check-called another bet from McKeehen on the 10♣ turn, this time for 11,500.
On the 7♣ river Konnikova checked and McKeehen virtually moved all in, committing his entire stack of roughly 35,000 minus one T-100 chip. Konnikova raised with a covering stack and McKeehen called off with his last chip.
McKeehen had A♥A♠ for an overpair but Konnikova had made the nut flush on the river with A♣3♣ to send McKeehen to the rail and continue accumulating chips.
The hijack opened the action with a raise to 1,200. Tauan Naves three-bet to 4,200 from the small blind and the hijack called.
Naves continued for 3,000 on 2♣6♠8♦ and his opponent made the call.
Naves checked over the 7♣ turn to the hijack who wagered 6,000. Naves called.
The hijack fired 16,500 on the 7♦ river and Naves went into the tank. He ultimately found the call and was rewarded the pot. The hijack showed K♣Q♥ for a bluff while Naves tabled A♣J♣ for the winner.
Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the eighth episode, Connor speaks with legendary UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer in an exclusive in-depth interview after Buffer's deep run in the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $50,000 High Roller. Buffer, a longtime poker player, finished in eighth place for a career-best $212,423 after kicking off Day 3 with his trademark "it's time" introduction.
Buffer talked about finding his long-lost half-brother, Michael Buffer, and becoming his manager, the early days of the UFC, the similarities between poker and martial arts, his relationships with Joe Rogan and Dana White, playing poker with Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio and the time he injured himself in a poker tournament before announcing the biggest UFC fight in history.
