Michael Rocco had gone all in for his final 45,000 chips on the button and was up against Abdel Hamid in the hijack. Hamid stood pat and Rocco mulled it over for several minutes before breaking a Jx.
Michael Rocco: 8x7x4x2x
Abdel Hamid: 10x7x5x3x2x
Rocco got dealt a new Jx, and his single draw adventure concluded as the money approached.
On another table, Yingui Li was seen taking his leave.
Patrick Leonard opened the cutoff to 7,000 and Marcel Vonk called from the big blind.
Vonk drew one and Leonard took two. Vonk led after the draw for 10,000 and Leonard deliberated for a while before he tossed in the call. Vonk had made 9x8x7x4x2x which was good enough to drag a modest pot.
The small blind put enough chips in the middle to put Justin Saliba all in in the big blind, and Saliba made the call. The small blind drew one card and Saliba stayed pat.
Justin Saliba: 9x7x5x4x3x
Small blind: Jx9x5x4x
The small blind was drawing dead, and his 8x did not matter any more as Saliba doubled to a stack of 13 big blinds.
Heather Alcorn raised to 7,500 under the gun and was called by the player on the button and Yingui Li in the big blind.
Li drew two cards, Alcorn one, and the button stood pat. Li then checked to Alcorn, who fired 15,000 chips. The button quickly folded and Li followed suit as the chips were shipped to Alcorn.
Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the eighth episode, Connor speaks with legendary UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer in an exclusive in-depth interview after Buffer's deep run in the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $50,000 High Roller. Buffer, a longtime poker player, finished in eighth place for a career-best $212,423 after kicking off Day 3 with his trademark "it's time" introduction.
Buffer talked about finding his long-lost half-brother, Michael Buffer, and becoming his manager, the early days of the UFC, the similarities between poker and martial arts, his relationships with Joe Rogan and Dana White, playing poker with Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio and the time he injured himself in a poker tournament before announcing the biggest UFC fight in history.
