Apicella Among the Big Stacks in the Field

With around 175 players remaining, the field is now entirely in the Silver section. One of the bigger stacks in the field is Austin Apicella, who has steadily increased his stack throughout the day thus far.

Fresh off winning a pot, he made it 13,000 to go on the button and called a pot-sized three-bet by Sean Rafael in the big blind. Rafael then potted for 88,000 on the 10♠7♥3♥ flop and Apicella folded. He still has more than three times as many chips as Rafael, though.

Dudani Busts Benson

Shiva Dudani raised from the hijack and William Benson three-bet most of his chips in from the button. Dudani called and put his opponent all in on the subsequent Q♠4♥8♥ flop.

Benson called it off for his tournament life as the players showed down.

Dudani made a pair of queens on the flop, and that remained the best hand as the 3♦ turn and 6♦ river could not help Benson.

After he had previously chipped up through Elie Nakache, Phil Ivey sent the chips back in the same direction and was sent to the rail. They only got it in after the 7♠5♠2♠6♣J♠ river on which Nakache showed the A♠K♥Q♣8♠ for the nut flush and Ivey tossed his cards towards the muck.

The dealer briefly exposed what appeared to be a nine-high straight.

On the tail end of the 6♦5♦2♦6♥Q♠ board, Andrew Watson checked with 72,000 behind. Emanuel Singer then bet 150,000 to cover his opponent.

Watson tank-called and Singer declared "just the six" before showing A♠10♠8♥6♣ for trips sixes. Watson had that beat with K♦K♥5♠5♥ for fives full of sixes to double right before their table broke.

Nakache quickly mucked his hand, and the pot was shipped to the 11-time bracelet winner.

Both players checked through the 9♣ turn to the 5♣ river at which point they each checked to showdown. The big blind tabled A♣A♥K♥J♠ for a winner to send Arieh slipping further down the chip counts.
