Ari Shin opened to 125,000 from the button before Jeffrey Yanchek three-bet to 375,000 from the small blind. Shin made it 1,275,000, leaving 5,000 behind. Yancheck was slightly covered by the original bet and he called for his tournament life.
Jeffrey Yanchek: Q♦Q♣
Ari Shin: A♠K♦
The A♣10♦6♦ flop left Yankchek with few outs. Unfortunately for him, the 3♦ turn and 8♦ river improved Shin to a better flush and Yankchek departed.
Action was caught on the A♣J♣9♠ flop in a single raised pot. Cameron Widergren checked in the big blind before Johnathan Morrell bet 150,000. Widergren moved all in for 1,000,000 and was called. Morrell had him covered and called.
Cameron Widergren: K♣3♣
Johnathan Morrell: A♦9♦
Widergren had a flush draw and added more outs after the K♥ turn. However, the 5♠ river was a brick and Widergren was eliminated.
On the last hand of the previous level, Vitalijs Zavorotnijs opened to 80,000 from the cutoff and called when Nacho Barbero three-bet to 230,000 from the button.
Zavorotnijs check-folded to a bet of 150,000 on the 8♥5♣4♠, awarding Barbero the pot.
As the hand played out, Yifu He was eliminated on the neighbouring table.
A huge pot was brewing on Table 620 between Ivan Stankov and Matt Davenport.
There was around 1,600,000 in the pot on the K♣2♥6♦8♣9♣ board.
Stankov bet 725,000 from the cutoff, and Davenport called.
Stankov tabled 9♠9♦ for a set of nines.
"Jesus f****** christ," said a frustrated Davenport as he left his seat. He took a few steps away from the table before returning, where he and Stankov continued to stare each other down. As he returned to his seat, Davenport tabled his no good A♦K♦.
The pot left Davenport with around 650,000, and his chips were soon in the middle. He was all in and at risk to compatriot Carl Shaw.
Davenport had KxQx and was up against 7♥7♦. The board ran out with low cards for Shaw to down Davenport.
Soon after, Shaw banked another bust out, sending Christopher Staats to the rail for his chip stack to eclipse the 5,000,000 mark.
Thomas Hulley raised all in for 415,000 from early position and Nacho Barbero called in middle position. Maxime Dube tanked for two minutes on the button before folding, and the blinds got out as well.
Thomas Hulley: A♥K♠
Nacho Barbero: 7♣7♦
The dealer fanned out 8♦3♣3♦2♦6♣ to end it for Hulley. "Nice playing with you guys," he said.
