Despite her hopes, the cards didn’t fall in Merk’s favor. With no help from the board, her tournament run came to an end as she was sent to the rail.

Stephani Hagberg was in the big blind and facing a bet from Katie Lindsay, who was under the gun and bet 10,000 into a pot of around 18,000 chips. It was a bet on the turn, where the board read 7♥6♣J♥9♣.

Hagberg thought only had 15,000 chips behind and thought for a while before going all in. Lindsay snap called.

In a hand just before the break, Tina Dubowy moved all in from the cutoff and got a call from Loni Hui on the button.

The flop came 2♦8♣3♣ and the 3♦ gave Dubowy some chances as she picked up a diamond draw and outs for a boat.

Despite Dubowy having, "so many outs on the river," according to a comment made from another player at the table, Dubowy was sent to the rail after seeing the 7♣ river.

Chin Eliminated With Two Unlucky Loses Back-to-Back

Michelle Chin bet out for 1,200 from early position on the flop 5♦A♣4♠ and got raised to 3,000 by Nancy Birnbaum on her direct left. Chin called the raise.

The turn came the K♦. Chin checked and Birnbaum bet out 7,700. After taking some time to think, Chin called. The river was the 6♦. Chin now led out for three red chips or 15,000 total, putting her opponent all in. Birnbaum snap-called.

Chin turned over 8♦7♦ for the flush, which was no good, as Birnbaum had A♦4♦ for the nut flush and the double-up.

Chin had just around 7,000 chips left after the hand and was under the gun the very next hand. She accidentally said: "I call", then corrected to raise, but her first action counted. Sigrid Dencker was in middle position and raised to over 2,000 chips. After action folded back to Chin, she went all in and Dencker called.

Chin was at risk but ahead, and remained so on the 7♣A♠10♦ flop and the 4♥ turn. However, on the river, a two-outer, the Q♦, rolled off, capping off Chin's short but extreme run of bad luck.
