Brian Rast Among Final Five in Event #73: $25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha

After three full days of play in Event #73: $25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha at the 2024 World Series of Poker at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas just five players remain from a record setting field of 476 entries. All five have secured at least $524,911 from the $11,186,000 prizepool but with $2,246,728 and a coveted WSOP gold bracelet awaiting the winner, there is still plenty to play for.

On the day the 2024 nominees for the Poker Hall of Fame were announced, last year's inductee Brian Rast is in the mix for a seventh bracelet win that would see him keep pace with the likes of Daniel Negreanu, John Hennigan and Scott Seiver, all of whom won their seventh piece of WSOP hardware this summer, while joining the legend Billy Baxter, whose last bracelet win came in 2002. Rast has his work cut out for him, however, as he returns with 9,450,000 in chips, the second-shortest stack ahead of two-time bracelet winner Juha Helppi on 8,775,000.

Currently leading the way is David "Diamond Dave" Eldridge as he managed to amass 23,400,000 before the close of Day 3. Eldridge secured a min-cash in this event last year but has already far eclipsed that result. Now, he is in as good a position as he has ever been to score the first seven-figure cash of his live tournament career.

American Ethan Cahn sits second in chips with 17,550,000. The majority of Cahn's recorded cashes to date are, perhaps unsurprisingly, in the pot-limit Omaha variant, including two at this year's WSOP; one in the $10,000 version of this event and another in the $1,000 one. A win today could be enough to see Cahn take his shot at the $50,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha event that is already underway in a quest to complete a remarkable quartet of cashes.

Not to be forgotten is China's Yang Wang, whose stack fluctuated significantly throughout Day 3 before finishing the night at a tournament-average 12,250,000. Wang is no stranger to success in high roller tournaments, both in no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha. At last year's WSOP, Wang cashed in this same event in addition to finding money finishes in the $50,000 NLH and $100,000 NLH tournaments. A bracelet win has eluded him so far, yet that can all be put right today.

Play resumes at 3 p.m. local time in the Horseshoe Event Center with just a couple of minutes left in Level 28 at blinds of 125,000/250,000 with a 250,000 big blind ante. PokerGO will be streaming the remainder of this event on a delay from 5 p.m. PDT onwards and PokerNews will provide updates in line with that delay so as to avoid any spoilers.

Be sure to follow along as coverage continues until a winner is crowned in Event #73: $25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha.
