2024 World Series of Poker
There were 1,500 chips in the middle on a flop of 5♠J♥10♠ when Wesley Cutshall checked, the button bet 600, and Cutshall check-raised to 1,800. The button thought for a short time before he folded.
"I preserved my stack because he just called," Zarvan Tumboli said and pointed to his table neighbour. The Indian poker pro has already lost one third of his stack and recalled a hand in which he flopped a set of tens on Kx10x3x while his direct neighbour flopped a set of kings. The overbet of Tumboli on the river was only called and he avoided losing even more chips.
Action folded around to the small blind who limped and James Mackey checked in the big blind.
The flop came 3♥10♦Q♥ and the small blind led out for 200. Mackey called.
The 8♥ turn and 10♥ river both went check-check. The small blind turned over J♦3♦ for two pair, tens and threes, while Mackey tabled 10♣2♥ for a flush.
John Smith opened to 600 on the button and was three-bet to 2,000 by the player in the big blind. Smith called.
Both players checked on the 4♠A♦Q♠ flop and the big blind checked again on the A♠ turn. Smith bet 2,000 and his opponent said, "Wrong flop for my hand," as he mucked.
Smith, who doesn't play many tournaments outside of the $25k Heads-up Championship, has chipped up early and currently sits with about 64,000.
Alan Keating opened 500 and only the big blind made the call.
Both players checked to the A♣J♣6♥K♦6♦ river where the big blind checked once again. Keating reached for a bet of 1,000 and the big blind snap-mucked.
"I have it!" Yelled Keating as he pulled in the pot.
Fabian Schaefer Carreno was three-ways on a turn of 2♥7♣4♥4♠. His opponents in the small blind and middle position checked to him on the button, and he made a bet of 10,000 into the pot of 20,300.
The small blind quickly folded but the player in middle position made the call. On the 8♥ river, Schaefer Carreno put in 20,000 chips, leaving himself about 12,000 behind.
His opponent tanked for a little while before letting his hand go and forfeiting the pot.
A player at the cutoff raised to 600, and Ryan Leng called in the small blind. The player in the big blind followed Leng with a call.
The dealer fanned 3♥2♥2♠ on the board, and Leng and the player in the big blind checked. The player at the cutoff bet 1,100, which Leng called. The player in the big blind folded.
The 5♦ on the turn brought checks from Leng and his opponent.
The dealer placed 7♦ on the river, and Leng led out with a 1,800 bet. The player at the cutoff briefly looked at the board before folding.
