McEwen Popped

Niveau 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Catalin Pop
Catalin Pop

Action was on the river in a three-way pot that had 30,000 in it. It read J84J5. From the hijack, big stack Catalin Pop dialed up the pressure cooker on his two shorter stacked opponents as he bet 75,000 which covered both players.

The first decision was on Ignacio Costa in the small blind who had about 55,000 behind, he went long into the tank and put his head in his hands multiple times while sighing. Eventually after 3 minutes he folded.

Then it was Preston McEwen's turn to stew from early position. He had about 35,500 behind and took around two minutes himself before he spiked in the call.

Pop turned over the J10 for trip jacks. McEwen got up in a hurry in visible frustration as his 9x9x hand was turned over and he fled out of the room with his main event over.

Meanwhile, Cuesta reacted in relief when he saw Pop's hand, indicating he had made the correct fold to preserve his tournament life.

Harder Calls Off His Main Event

Niveau 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Action was on the river with Christian Harder in the midst of a bigtime decision. The pot had 95,000 in it and the board read 6J937. Chad Lousberg bet 70,000 which had Harder covered who was deep in the tank.

The clock was called, which Harder disagreed with, saying he had only had a minute. The dealer waited a while to call the floor as he continued to tank. Eventually the floor did come over to count it down and in the final seconds of the count down, Harder called.

Lousberg tabled the KQ for the flush. Harder got up in anger and left the room swiftly as the dealer turned over the hand he had called with, AA.

Hales Survives With a Chop

Kojiro Doi raised to 2,600 and then called the shove of a short-stacked David Hales.

Hales was at risk with the AK and up against Doi's KK.

The 654 flop was a tease with the additional flush draw but Hales asked for a seven once the 8 came on the turn. Sure enough, the 7 fell on the river and they chopped it up.

Big stack at the table is Kitty Kuo.

After the A on the turn, Kornecook again check-called a bet of 8,000 from Kline.

When the 9 hit the river, Kornecook then led out for a bet of 30,000. Kline quickly folded and gave the pot to Korecook.

White Takes From Two Nguyens

Niveau 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Kenny Nguyen opened to 2,700 from middle position and was called by Scotty Nguyen in the cutoff and Michael White in the big blind.

White checked to Nguyen on the 4104 flop and he continued for 3,300. Scotty Nguyen folded, but White called.

The 5 fell on the turn and White check-called an 8,500 bet from Nguyen before both players checked on the 5 river.

White tabled J10 for tens and fives and Nguyen folded what he claimed to be a pocket pair to send the pot White's direction.
