Eights Keep Giving to St Jacques

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Player on the cutoff opened the action with a min-raise. The button and both blinds called.

The flop came 8K8. After checks from the blinds, the cutoff continuation-bet 175,000. The button and the small blind folded, but Ray St Jacques in the big blind raised to 375,000. Cutoff called.

The turn was the 9. St Jacques bet 400,000 and got a snap call from his opponent.

The river was the A. St Jacques thought for a moment and bet again, this time, 800,000 chips. The cutoff quickly called.

St Jacques turned over 98 for flopped trips and turned full house, while the cutoff had K10.

Eights, and flops with two eights in particular, have been very good to St. Jacques today, as he was able to make trips for the second time in just over an hour to take down a sizeable pot.

Pang Drills Quads on Flop

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Matthew Pang moved all in out of early position for his remaining 755,000 and was called by a late-position player, who had Pang covered.

The remaining players in the blinds folded, and the cards were tabled.

Matthew Pang: 55 All in
Opponent: AxQx

While Pang was ahead, he needed to dodge the over cards.

But the flop proved immediately favorable for Pang when the dealer fanned 55K on the board to give Pang quad fives and a hammerlock on the hand.

The 7 on the turn ad 8 on the river were insignificant, and Pang cruised his way to a full double up.

“No sweat,” a player at the table commented, as Pang chuckled.

Kings versus Aces

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

According to the players, Jim Kilgus raised to 250,000 from middle position and Adrian Scarpa called in the hijack. Other players folded.

The flop came QJ2 and Kilgus continuation bet. Scarpa decided to go all in for 1,030,000 total and Kilgus called.

Adrian Scarpa: AAAll in
James Kilgus: KK

Scarpa was all in but ahead with aces. The turn 10 gave Kilgus a straight draw, but the river 8 sent the pot to Scarpa. Kilgus took the beat in good spirit, commenting that, sooner or later, ‘the kings will get you some time.’

Scarpa, on the other hand, has been grinding a 10-15 big blind stack all day. He has managed to stick around with increasing blinds, including by winning several all-in pots to stay alive. According to his opponents, he just won’t go away.

Garibaldi Rivers the Nuts

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Juan Garibaldi raised to 205,000 in early position, and then watched as action folded to a player in late position.

The player in late position responded to Garibaldi’s raise by moving all in for his remaining 1,075,000.

The players at the button and blinds got out of the way, putting action back on Garibaldi, who asked for a count. The dealer confirmed the count, and Garibaldi, who started the hand with 2,200,000 called to put his opponent at risk.

All-In Player: 44 All in
Juan Garibaldi: KQ

The dealer fanned 10J2 on the board, giving Garibaldi a gutshot straight draw.

The 3 on the turn kept Garibaldi’s opponent in the lead, but the tables were turned when A arrived on the river to give Garibadi a straight and a knockout blow.

“The nuts,” a player at the table commented.
