Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.

In the 11th episode, Connor speaks with Dan "Jungleman" Cates about accountability in poker, his notorious heads-up challenge with Tom Dwan, Game of Gold, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, mindfulness in poker and his new podcast Winning the Game of Life.

Cates also talked about his iconic Poker Players Championship outfits and a six-figure downswing he experienced at Bellagio during the summer.

This interview was filmed at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) inside Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

Scott Seiver raised in the cutoff and Ronald Schiffman moved all in from the cutoff which saw Travis Pearson call in the small blind and Seiver called as well.

The flop rolled out Q♠J♥10♠ and Seiver called a bet from Pearson.

Both players checked the 2♣ turn to the 8♠ river where Pearson bet and Seiver folded.

The river completed the flush for Pearson who scooped up the remaining chips from Schiffman.

The flop came 3♣2♦3♠ and Breneman check-called a bet from Seiver.

The turn was the 8♦ and after Breneman checked to Seiver, he again bet. But this time Breneman raised the bet, and Seiver called.

After the 7♥ Breneman bet and Seiver quickly called. Breneman tabled A♣3♥ for trip threes, and Seiver mucked his hand.

Action folded to Phillip Sternheimer who raised in the hijack. Then the small blind Chip Jett three-bet, before Jonathan Williams in the big blind put in a four bet. Sternheimer made the call, and Jett was all in for his last 3,000 chips.

With Jett all in, Sternheimer and Williams checked the Q♦J♣3♥ flop, and the 2♥ turn.

After the 7♣ on the river, Williams checked to Sternheimer who bet and forced Williams to fold.

Sternheimer took the side pot and tabled A♥10♥4♦4♣ for a pair of fours and an ace-four low. Jett showed A♣Q♠Q♥3♦ for a set of queens to take the high, and having no low, he and Sternheimer chopped the pot.

The flop rolled out 5♠Q♦8♠ and action checked over to Hochman who bet all in and both players called.

Everyone checked the A♠K♠ runout.
