Michael Rocco
Michael Rocco

In what was intended to be a conversation about a slew of near misses over his career, Michael Rocco flipped the script when he revealed that the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) would be his last full series for many years.

And the reason why he'll be reducing his volume at the tables may come as a bit of a shock.

During a break in Event #94: $10,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em Championship, he told PokerNews that he has acquired a farm in the last year, and intends to shift his focus to that venture over his card-playing exploits.

Zaki Chips Up With Two Knockouts Back to Back

Niveau 30 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

On the first of two big pots, Justin Zaki was on the button and three-bet an open from Brett Murray in the hijack. Murray four-bet all in for around 3,000,00 chips and Zaki called.

Brett Murray: AKAll in
Justin Zaki: AA

Aces held on 910894 to knockout Murray and send a big pot Zaki’s way.

The very next hand, Zaki raised from the cutoff and faced an almost-all-in from Frank Lin in the small blind. Lin made it 1,815,000 and when action came back to Zaki, he called and flipped over 22, unaware that Lin still has a 100,000 chip behind.

The dealer dealt out 1038 and Lin took his time to try to catch the payout jump. Zaki asked Lin to tell him who was ahead, but Lin refused, jokingly pointing to the remaining chip he was playing for. After the clock ran out, he checked and Zaki put him all in. The waiting game repeated and after the clock ran out the second time, Lin called, flipping over KQ.

The turn and river were J and 5, no help to Lin and he was out.

While the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event final table is underway, there is another final table steps away inside the Horseshoe Events Center that will be of interest to poker fans.

The $25,000 High Roller H.O.R.S.E. event is down to just nine players, two of whom have a chance to make some history. Phil Ivey is attempting to win his 12th WSOP bracelet, while Scott Seiver is hoping to become the first player in history to win four bracelets in one year, and also lock up WSOP Player of the Year.

Day 3 of the high stakes mixed game tournament has already been quite intense, with the elimination of Matt Glantz in 10th place out of 120 entrants, and the leaderboard changing drastically from the start an hour into the session. At the time of publishing, Seiver's stack had significantly increased since play began, while Ivey's chip count hadn't moved much.

Kokich Outflopped; Can't Improve

Niveau 30 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Clark Kokich jammed in early position and the action folded around to Brett Murray in the big blind. He asked for a count, and once the dealer told him it was 885,000, he made the call.

Clark Kokich: A6 All in
Brett Murray: K7

The KQ6 flop connected with both players, giving Murray a pair of kings while Kokich flopped bottom pair and a flush draw. The J turn gave Kokich some extra outs but the 9 river was not one of them.
