Kyablue Takes from Turner, Sammartino From Watson

Niveau 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,500 ante

Xavier Kyablue raised to 18,000 on the button, and Jon Turner three-bet to 65,000 in the small blind, which Kyablue called. Turner stood pat, and Kyablue drew one. Turner continued with a bet of 65,000, and Kyablue eventually called. Turner announced a queen and sent his cards into the muck when Kyablue showed {9-}{8-}{7-}{5-}{2-}.

Over on the other table, Dario Sammartino raised to 18,000, John Monnette called in the small blind, and Mike Watson called in the big blind. Watson was the only player to draw two, while Sammartino and Monnette took one card each. Monnette and Watson checked, and Sammartino bet 47,000.

While Monnette quickly folded, Watson spent more than two minutes without making a decision, and the clock was called on him. Half a minute passed, and with around 28 seconds left, Watson called. Sammartino rolled over {8-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and won the pot.

Table 718, Paul Volpe Opens Three Hands In a Row

Niveau 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,500 ante
Paul Volpe
Paul Volpe

After two quick eliminations, the action has settled slightly. Konstantin Maslak was moved to balance the tables, and Darren Elias and Paul Volpe have about 200,000 more chips than the rest of their tablemates.

Volpe just opened three hands in a row:

  • The first hand, Volpe opened to 18,000 and took down the blinds and antes.
  • The second hand, Volpe opened again to 18,000, and Per Hildebrand called from the small blind. Each player drew one and then checked. Hildebrand won the hand with a better queen, {q-}{8-}{7-}{3-}{2-}
  • Volpe opened to 18,000 for the third hand in a row, and Xavier Kyablue and Jon Turner both called from the blinds. All three players drew one, and Kyablie led for 40,000. Turner folded, and Volpe took about 30 seconds before folding, too.

Elias and Chen Chip Up

Niveau 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,500 ante

Darren Elias raised to 18,000, and Xavier Kyablue called, as did Paul Volpe in the big blind. All three players drew one card apiece, and the action checked to Elias. His bet of 70,000 forced two folds.

Soon after, Volpe made it 17,500 to go, and James Chen called in the cutoff. The duo drew one card each, and Volpe checked, Chen bet 21,000 and won the pot.

Chen claimed another pot with a jack-nine against Jon Turner after that one and chipped up some more.

John Monnette raised to 15,000 from the cutoff, and Mike Watson three-bet to 50,000 on the button. Monnette called, and both players drew one card. Monnette checked, and Watson bet 150,000 with another 160,000 behind. Monnette gave it some consideration and folded.

The next hand, Monnette raised to 15,000, and Dario Sammartino defended his big blind. Again, both players drew one, and Sammartino checked. Monnette bet 21,500, and Sammartino called. Monnette briefly showed his cards, though Sammartino tabled {9-}{8-}{6-}{5-}{3-} as the winning hand to scoop the pot.

Shaun Deeb Eliminated in 13th Place ($15,333)

Shaun Deeb - 13th Place
Shaun Deeb - 13th Place

Shaun Deeb raised to 15,500 from under the gun, and John Monnette called from the button.

Each player drew one, Deeb checked, and Monnette bet 40,000. Deeb check-raised all in for about 210,000, and Monnette confirmed the estimate before he called with {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

"Nice hand, John," said Deeb, as he tabled a defeated {8-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-} to bust in 13th place.

Perfect Nine

Niveau 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,500 ante
Mike Leah
Mike Leah

Mike Leah opened the button to 15,000, and Shaun Deeb called from the small blind.

Each player drew one, and Deeb checked. Leah bet 45,000, and Deeb called.

Leah showed {9-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}, and Deeb mucked.

This is at least the third time Leah has made a nine-perfect. He doubled through Mike Gorodinsky earlier in the day after making one, and he was dealt a perfect nine on a hand where John Monnette was dealt an eight-six. After the dust settled, Monnette had won a 700,000-chip pot, and Leah was left with slightly more than 100,000.

Since then, Leah has been on a roll, building his stack back up to almost 550,000.
