Palma Tank Wins

Niveau 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

With the board reading {3-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} and around 4,000 in the pot, Nicholas Palma had a bet of 2,450 in front of him and was facing an all in for 8,000 total.

Palma went into the tank for several minutes and asked a number of questions to his opponent who was unresponsive and remained still with a smile on his face.

Palma eventually called with {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and was up against his opponent's {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

The river was a blank and Palma knocked out his opponent.

As he was gathering the pot, Palma asked to no one in particular if his call was a nit-roll to which no one responded. So he then specifically asked Shannon Shorr who replied that Palma was asking the wrong guy.

Alex Rocha Takes it on the River

Niveau 2 : 50/100, 0 ante
Alex Rocha (as seen in a previous event)
Alex Rocha (as seen in a previous event)

At Table 164, Alex Rocha just picked up a pot on the river against Jason Mercier.

The action started when Galen Hall opened to 250 and Mercier three-bet in position to 800. Rocha called from the big blind and Hall called behind.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades} and all three players checked. The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Rocha led for 1,300. Hall folded and Mercier called.

The river was the {9-Spades} and Rocha led again, this time making it 3,000. Mercier folded and Rocha won the pot.

Table 170

Niveau 1 : 25/50, 0 ante
Antonio Esfandiari (From Event #2)
Antonio Esfandiari (From Event #2)

Players are still trickling in for Event #3: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout. Table 170 looks like one of the tougher tables in the field so far.

Antonio Esfandiari is in seat two. Esfandiari has three WSOP gold bracelets and over $27 million in lifetime tournament earnings. To his left is Jake Schwartz. Schwartz has just over $1.3 million in tournament winnings. Then there's Benjamin Ludlow, who is relatively new to the tournament poker scene, but earned a fourth-place finish in WSOP 2016's $1,500 8-Game for $40,911.

Jeremy Ausmus just sat down as well. Ausmus has almost $5 million in tournament earnings, but is still looking for his first WSOP gold bracelet. To his left is Dan O'Brien with just over $3 million in tournament earnings.

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #3: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em SHOOTOUT

2016 $3,000 Shootout Champion Phillip McAllister
2016 $3,000 Shootout Champion Phillip McAllister

Sit & go players rejoice as today is the start of Event #3: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em SHOOTOUT.

For those of you unfamiliar with the shootout format, all you have to do is win your table to advance to the next round.

Last summer, Phillip McAllister bested a field of 400 players in this event to take home $267,720 and capture his first World Series of Poker bracelet. McAllister was able to outlast Christopher Kruk, Maria Ho, Ryhs Jones, Faraz Jaka and Stephen Chidwick at the final table.

The plan for today is to play until each table has a winner who'll be in the money and advance to Day 2.

Cards will be in the air at 11 a.m. with late registration opened through the first three 40-minute levels.
