Jonathan Duhamel

Jonathan Duhamel may have scooped up over $8 million from winning the 2010 WSOP Main Event, but he has more than doubled that with $17.6 million in career earnings. He is also a three-time WSOP bracelet winner, boasting wins in the $111,111 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller for One-Drop ($3,989,985) and the €25,600 No Limit Hold'em High Roller (€554,395), both in 2015.

The champion has taken his seat today in search of his fourth bracelet and to add to his already-impressive résumé.

John Monnette vs. Valentin Vornicu

Niveau 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Action folded to John Monnette on the button who opened to 125. Valentin Vornicu, in the small blind, three-bet to 400. Monnette snap-called.

On a {a-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop, Vornicu led for 400. Monnette called. The dealer turned the {4-Hearts} and Vornicu continued for 800. Monnette stuck around with another call. The river then came the {5-Diamonds} and was checked through.

Vornicu tabled {k-Clubs}{j-Spades} and Monnette revealed {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} to take it down.

Peter Hengsakul Finds an Early Double

Niveau 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

With about 1,275 in the pot on a board reading {7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, the player under the gun checked. Peter Hengsakul was on the button and bet 1,000. His opponent then check-raised all in, and Hengsakul called.

Hengsakul was the player at risk holding {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for the nut-flush draw, and his opponent tabled {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Hengsakul also had two overcards to go with his flush draw, and hit one of them when the {k-Spades} peeled off on the turn. The river was the {a-Diamonds} and Hengsakul doubled through, leaving his opponent with very few chips.

With over $1.3 million in earnings, Hengsakul looks to secure his first WSOP bracelet after finishing as runner-up in a $1,500 no-limit hold'em event in 2013 for an impressive $325,780.

Gaelle Baumann
Gaelle Baumann

Gaelle Baumann from France is known in part for earning the Last Woman Standing title in the $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event — twice, as a matter fact, in the last four years. She bubbled the final table of the Main Event in 2012 to finish 10th, and made it to 102nd just last year. She has a total of $672,742 in WSOP earnings and eight cashes, one being from this summer.

Baumann has taken her seat in this event early on in the day, and will be looking to make her ninth cash and win her first bracelet.

Joe Cada and Cliff Josephy Among the Early Risers

Niveau 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

It may be early in the day, but 1,241 players have already taken their seats this morning.

Among those players is 2009 Main Event Champion and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Joe Cada, as well as 2016 Main Event third-place finisher and two-time WSOP bracelet winner, Cliff Josephy. Both players have had phenomenal careers thus far, and considering this series has so far been the year of former bracelet winners adding more gold, consider these two at the top of your watch lists.

Here is a look at some of the other familiar faces in the field today:
