Grafton Shows the Bluff

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

A player in early position bet 1,200 on a {6-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop and Sam Grafton made it 3,025 to go from the button. The bettor called and both checked the {j-Clubs}. The first player checked the {2-Hearts} river and Grafton bet 9,000. That sent his opponent into a two-minute tank.

"You show if I fold?" he said.

"You show, I show," Grafton said after about 30 seconds.

The player immediately turned over {a-}{q-} and Grafton revealed {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a bluff.

"I had to!" Grafton said. "I was going to give up on the turn but I had seven-high on the river."

Duthie Eliminated By Reigning Champ MacPhee

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Kevin MacPhee
Kevin MacPhee

The flop read {10-Spades}{K-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Simon Wiggins, in the small blind, and John Duthie, in the hijack, had checked. Kevin MacPhee bet 1,600 from the button. Wiggins called but Duthie decided to raise to 5,000, MacPhee three-bet to 13,200. Wiggins got out of the way but Duthie decided to call.

The turn brought them the {Q-Clubs}, Duthie bet 16,000, MacPhee shoved for 21,525 and Duthie snap-called even though MacPhee had him covered.

"Do you want to run it once or twice?" Duthie said jokingly.

Kevin MacPhee: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
John Duthie: {K-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

The {2-Diamonds} on the river completed the board which gave Duthie two pair, kings and deuces, but that wasn't enough against the set of tens MacPhee had flopped. Duthie was eliminated and got up from the table. The two players shook hands and Duthie indicated he'd try again tomorrow.

Dario Sammartino raised to 750 from the under-the-gun position and action folded to Artur Rudziankov in the big blind. Rudziankov called.

The flop came {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, Rudziankov check-called the 800 bet of Sammartino.

They both checked on the {10-Hearts} on the turn. The flop brought them the {8-Clubs} to complete the board. Rudziankov bet 2,200, Sammartino looked at his chips and then decided to raise to 7,925. Now Rudziankov had a decision to take. He decided to re-raise to 28,800. Sammartino was not happy and sat up. Looked at his cards, shook his head and gave Rudziankov a few good stares. He then looked at the board again and unhappily made the call.

Rudziankov showed {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a straight flush and Sammartino looked at his cards again. He then just mucked them. Rudziankov raked in the pot and didn't say anything.

Hakim Picks a Bluff Off

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Jeff Hakim was deep in the tank when we got to his table, facing a bet of 6,500 with 9,000 already in the pot. The small blind had fired out with {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{a-Spades}{3-Diamonds} making up the community. Hakim thought a couple of minutes and seemed to be leaning toward a call as he held the requisite chips in his hand. Finally, he threw them in.

The small blind showed {j-}{10-} for a bricked straight draw and Hakim took it with {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}.

It seems that quite a few players decided to skip the earlier levels to take their seat in the tournament once the levels with the antes started. These are some of the players that have joined over the past half hour:
