Ren Lin Leads 18 Survivors After Day 1 of Event #12: €50,000 NLH Diamond High Roller

Niveau 13 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Ren Lin

The most expensive gold bracelet event of the 2023 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) is one step closer to crowning a champion. Upon completion of 13 levels of 40 minutes each, a field of 29 entries in Event #12: €50,000 NLH Diamond High Roller is whittled down to 18 survivors at the King's Resort in Rozvadov. The €1 million guarantee has already been surpassed but it remains to be seen whether or not the 45 entries of the previous year can be reached.

Leading the way is the always jovial GGPoker ambassador Ren Lin with 3,370,000 and fellow countryman Quan Zhou follows in second place with 2,755,000, fewer than one big blind ahead of Santhosh Suvarna (2,725,000). Several other high-stakes regulars can be found in the overnight top ten including defending champion Orpen Kisacikoglu, who was among those needing to re-enter and advancing with 1,465,000.

Among the big stacks after Day 1 is also Daniel Dvoress, who won his second gold bracelet just two days ago in Event #8: €25,000 NLH GGMillion€ after overcoming a stacked field of High Roller regulars. It would be no surprise to see the Canadian go all the way again and he sits in fourth place on the leaderboard with 2,690,000.

Martin Kabrhel made a late appearance in the final level of the night and came prepared with a re-entry ticket readily available. Lin had just doubled through Chris Brewer and then knocked out Kabrhel shortly thereafter, only for the Czech two-time WSOP bracelet winner to re-enter right away and double near instantly.

Stephen Chidwick and Timothy Adams were not as fortunate and bowed out late in the day, but both are expected to take advantage of the extended late registration and re-entry period.

The final day of the high stakes contest is set to recommence at 2 p.m. local time and the blinds will then be 20,000-40,000 with a big blind ante of 40,000. All those jumping in will begin their journey with 1,000,000 in chips, good enough for 25 big blinds. The late registration is open for the first level, and the level duration for the remainder of the tournament stays 40 minutes each.

Besides the exclusive live updates right here on PokerNews, the conclusion of Event #12: €50,000 NLH Diamond High Roller will also be broadcasted on the King's Resort Twitch and YouTube channel with cards-up coverage on a 60-minute security delay.

Kabrhel Finds Success on Second Bullet

Niveau 13 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

Martin Kabrhel raised to 70,000 from the hijack and big blind Ioannis Angelou-Konstas defended the big blind. The flop fell 95K and Angelou-Konstas checked to Kabrhel, who continued for 95,000 chips. Angelou-Konstas then raised to 225,000 and Kabrhel made the call.

Angelou-Konstas fired another 250,000 on the 2 turn and Kabrhel called yet again. The 4 river then completed the board and Angelou-Konstas shipped all in, covering Kabrhel's 450,000 remaining chips.

Kabrhel made a quick call and Angelou-Konstas showed his KQ for top pair. Kabrhel, however, was sitting on AA for pocket aces. They were good enough to double him up in the tail end of Day 1.

Kabrhel Busts and Reenters

Martin Kabrhel opened the action with a raise to 65,000 on the button, picking up calls from Ren Lin and Gab Yong Kim in the blinds.

On a flop of KJ5, the action checked to Kabrhel and he continued for 195,000. Lin then check-raised to 900,000 for Kim to fold. Kabrhel checked his stack for five seconds, then moved all-in and Lin called.

Martin Kabrhel: K5
Ren Lin: KQ

The 9 turn gave Lin more outs and he indeed got there with the 10 river to knock out Kabrhel.

Before raking in the pot, Lin pointed towards his cards and simply said "lady gaga".

Kabrhel came prepared, as he had already purchased a reentry ticket in advance and jumped back in right away, moving from the eight to the one seat right next to Lin.

Teun Mulder and Tamas Adamszki had also reentered to bring the field up to 29 entries.

Santhosh Suvarna raised to 60,000 from the hijack and Felipe Ketzer made the call from the button. The short-stacked Tamas Adamszki then committed his last 180,000 chips from the small blind, and both of his opponents made the call.

Suvarna and Ketzer then checked through the 39Q flop, before Suvarna made a 135,000 bet on the 9 turn. Ketzer quickly folded and a showdown was ordered.

Tamas Adamszki: A10

Mustafov Hits the Rail; Lin Calls Correctly

Ren Lin

Fahredin Mustafov raised to 175,000 and left 15,000 behind. Daniel Dvoress called on the button but then got out of the way when Santhosh Suvarna three-bet big and Mustafov called all-in.

Fahredin Mustafov: K10
Santhosh Suvarna: A10

Mustafov was drawing dead on the 622A turn to make the J river a formality.

One more all-in showdown was taking place before the end of the level on another table.

Chris Brewer had defended the big blind and check-raised the Q63 flop, bet the A turn and jammed the Q river against Ren Lin. The pot by then was some 935,000 and Lin used three time bank extensions before making the call.

Brewer showed 75 for a missed gutshot and Lin doubled for 696,000 with QJ for trips queens.

As they prepared the chip race before heading into the break, Lin declared "you bluff too much" and Brewer replied with a dry "you call too much".

Suvarna and Heath Both Make Flushes

Santhosh Suvarna open-raised to 50,000 before Ben Heath put out a three-bet to 140,000 from the next seat over. The action folded back to Suvarna, who put in the call.

The J45 flop was then checked by Suvarna and Heath made a small continuation-bet of 65,000. Suvarna was not going anywhere yet, however, and made the call. The 6 turn was then checked by both players before the 6 river brought the fourth heart on the board.

Suvarna checked for a third time, after which Heath deliberated for some time before settling on a bet of 380,000 chips. Suvarna quickly made the call and heath tabled AK for the king-high flush.

Suvarna had one better, however, as he showed down AQ for the ace-high flush. He scooped the pot as he crossed the two-million mark just before the final break of Day 1.

Francisco Benitez raised to 50,000 and then faced the three-bet shove by Timothy Adams for around 320,000. No exact count was asked upon as Benitez came along a few seconds later.

Timothy Adams: QQ
Francisco Benitez: 88

Adams was in prime shape to get back into contention but that all changed on the A108 flop, as Benitez hit a set of eights. No queen or running cards followed on the 6 turn and K river as Adams departed in the penultimate level of the night.

Tamas Adamszki raised his button to 40,000 and Fahredin Mustafov flat-called from the small blind. Quan Zhou then squeezed in a three-bet to 150,000 from the big blind, which only Mustafov called.

The flop of 834 saw Adamszki check to Zhou, who continued for 145,000 chips. Mustafov called before the A turn was checked by both players.

Mustafov then checked the 3 river as well, after which Zhou took a second look at his cards before checking back. Mustafov could only show six-high with 65, which led Zhou to table the winner with his 98 for a pair of eights.

By winning this pot, Zhou edged out a small chip lead over his nearest rival on the leaderboard.

Tamas Adamszki raised to 35,000 and subsequently four-bet jammed into a three-bet by table neighbour Fahredin Mustafov, who beat him into the pot with the all-in call.

Fahredin Mustafov: AA
Tamas Adamszki: 77

Mustafov all but locked up the double with the AJ8 flop but had a sudden sweat to endure on the 10 turn. However, the 10 river only improved the Bulgarian to aces full of tens and he doubled for 610,000.

Moments later on the third table, Teun Mulder was all-in preflop for 333,000 with the AQ. He flipped against Gab Yong Kim with the 1010 and got there on a board of A8526.
