Karo Nuri raised to 1,400 in the hijack and was called by Michal Zimani on the button, small blind Stefano Aprile, and Ole Schemion in the big blind.
The flop came A♠4♥10♠ and action checked to Zimani who bet 2,500. Aprile and Schemion folded, but Nuri raised to 6,700.
Zimani called and the Q♦ fell on the turn. Nuri led out for 18,500 and Zimani tanked for a minute before calling.
The river came the 3♠ and Nuri bet another 11,000. Zimani called quicker this time and Nuri showed A♠3♠ for two pair. Zimani, though, had A♥10♦ for a higher two pair to win the pot.
Viktor Blom may have been moved from this "Table of Death," but it still includes defending champion Omar Eljach.
On a board reading A♥4♠J♣K♦ with several thousand already in the middle, Arturo Paduano checked to James Chen, who bet 25,000. Paduano quickly announced he was all in, which was enough to put Chen all in for his last 35,000.
Chen went deep into the tank, but eventually opted to fold.
"Pocket nines," Paduano remarked as he stacked his chips.
Heads-up on a flop of 4♦9♠5♦, Dawid Smolka bet 3,300 from middle position and Vittorio Maugini called in early position.
The turn came the 4♥ and Smolka bet another 8,500. Maugini again called to the 8♣ river, where he checked to Smolka for a third time.
Smolka checked and Maugini turned over A♣5♠ for two pair. Smolka, though, had Q♦9♦ for nines and fours to take the pot.
Adrian Mateos, who is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his WSOP Europe Main Event title, has also taken at his seat at this table. Joakim Andersson, champion of the turbo event last night, is also here, as is last year's fifth-place finisher Paul Covaciu.
With around 35,000 in the middle, Vladimir Troyanovskiy and Waagn Kaplanjan went to the river on a board of A♣5♦J♥Q♠3♣.
Troyanovskiy then moved all in for 27,600 and Kaplanjan called. Troyanovskiy showed A♠Q♦ for two pair and Kaplanjan flashed a smaller ace before mucking.
Marius Gicovanu was already all in for approximately 62,000 from the cutoff against Erik Gloeckler, who was in the big blind, on a completed board of K♥A♦J♠Q♥7♦
Gicovanu held A♥A♠ for top set, which was best against the A♣K♦ of Gloeckler for two pair — scoring Gicovanu the double up.
Ermanno Di Nicola was under the gun and bet 2,000 on a flop of 2♠Q♥K♠. Sergey Shendrik called in the big blind and they went heads-up to the A♦ turn.
Both players checked to the 7♦ river, where Shendrik led out for 4,000. Di Nicola took his time before calling, then mucked when Shendrik showed him A♠8♦ for a turned pair of aces to win the pot.
