Welcome to Day 1 of Event #9: WSOPE NLH €1,100 Mystery Bounty, which kicks off inside King's Resort in Rozvadov at 4 p.m. local time.
This is the first time that a Mystery Bounty event has been scheduled for the World Series of Poker Europe, and plenty of players are chomping at the bit to get involved in this unique tournament format.
In traditional bounty or progressive knockout poker tournaments, players receive a cash prize when they eliminate an opponent. When they secure a knockout in these events, they know how much their bounty prize is. In Mystery Bounty tournaments, the prize for busting a player is unknown.
The bounty prizes are in play in regular bounty tournaments from the start. However, in Mystery Bounty poker tournaments, the bounty element becomes active at a later stage, usually on Day 2 of the event’s schedule, which is the case for this event.
Players receive a mystery bounty token from each player they eliminate in a live mystery bounty. Those players exchange their tokens for mystery bounty envelopes at the prize chest/tombola. Each envelope contains a mystery bounty prize, where the prizes could range from a few hundred dollars to a life-changing sum of money.
At the 2022 WSOP, Matt Glantz pulled the $1 million bounty prize in the Million Dollar Bounty. The following month, Scott Ball also banked a seven-figure payday after being awarded the top mystery bounty prize in the 2022 WSOP Online.
The plan for Day 1 is to play 14x40-minute levels, with a break coming after the completion of every three levels. Players will need to have chips in front of them when the day is complete to make it through to tomorrow's session. Late registration closes after Level 12 plays out.
As mentioned, the bounties come into play from Day 2, so the first stage of the event will run as a regular poker tournament.
For the €1,100 buy-in, €700 goes into the regular prize pool, while €300 goes towards bounty prizes. The remainder goes to the house. Each entry will also have a 30,000 starting stack.
