Schumacher Finds Double Against Fernandes

Niveau 26 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Dirk Schumacher had jammed all-in for 600,000 from the cutoff over an earlier open-raise. Carlos Fernandes looked him up in the small blind, causing the initial raiser to fold before the two showed down.

Carlos Fernandes: KK

The 897 flop gave Schumacher a gutshot, which came in on the 910 runout. He rivered a straight to double up, much to the dismay of Fernandes, who shook his head as he cut out what he owed.

Svec Runs Into House

Tomas Svec
Tomas Svec

With 175,000 in the middle, Tomas Svec's stack of 450,000 or so chips flew in under the gun on a flip of 23Q. His opponent was Antonio Jelenković, who had the covering stack.

Tomas Svec: Q10 All in
Antonio Jelenković: Q3

Jelenkovic had flopped two pair to dominate Svec's pair of queens. The hand was almost over once the 3 hit the turn, upgrading Jelenkovic to a full house.

The final queen in the deck did not come on the J river, preventing a chop and sending Svec to the rail.

Kirchner Doubles Up with Straight, Thanks to His Lucky Apple

Niveau 25 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Thomas Kirchner made a bold move, shoving all in with his last 105,000 chips from the cutoff. After asking for a chip count, Patrik Demus in the big blind decided to make the call. In a lighthearted moment, Kirchner joked that his all-in was worth even more because he was also tossing in his apple, which had served as his trusty card protector throughout the day.

Thomas Kirchner: K10All in
Patrik Demus: J10

The flop came down Q7J, giving Kirchner a glimmer of hope as he flopped a straight draw.

With every turn of the cards, he was eager for more good news, and his prayers were answered when the A appeared on the turn, providing him with the straight he needed.

As the river brought the J, it did not change the outcome of the hand. Kirchner's hand held strong, allowing him to double up and keep his tournament hopes alive, much to his relief.
