News from the 2019 World Series of Poker: June 24
The excitement is especially palpable at the Rio today because Jeopardy Phenom James Holzhauer if in the building. Another notable event kicks off today: The $50,000 Poker Players Championship. Last year, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi won the event for a record THIRD time.
In other news, five-time bracelet winner Daniel Alaei leads the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship with 50 players remaining. Other notables in the field competing for the $1,086,967 first place prize include Luke Schwartz and Shaun Deeb.
The $1500 Monster Stack event also returns today. Some players still in contention include Andrew Moreno, married to former PokerNews reporter Kristy Arnett, Joe Cada, Matt Salsberg.
We had three bracelet winner’s yesterday, including the first woman to take home WSOP gold this year. Jiyoung Kim won the Ladies’ Championship for $167,308. She held a consistant chip lead from when the final table was down to four players until she defeated Nancy Matson heads-up.
The 2nd bracelet of the day went to Jason 'TheBigGift' Gooch for taking down the $1K WSOP.com ONLINE No-Limit Hold'em Double Stack for $241,492.
A major deal was just announced between Caesars Entertainment Corp and Eldorado Resorts Incorporated. Several outlets have reported that outlets, casino operator Eldorado Resorts Inc. has agreed to acquire and merge with Caesars Entertainment in a cash-and-stock deal worth $17.3 billion that also includes Eldorado assuming Caesars' NOT insignificant debt of 8.79 BILLION with a B dollars.
