O'Dwyer Eliminated

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

As we got to the table, Steve O'Dwyer had just check raised from the blinds on {J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Schemion moved all in and O'Dwyer called it of holding {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. Schemion tabled {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and got lucky right away with the {5-Hearts} on the turn. The {J-Diamonds} on the river made O'Dwyer trips, but it wasn't enough to save him.

Raouf Busts to Choi

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

At the same time as Jason Mercier enforced a fold from Christoph Vogelsang, another big pot was played a few meters over on table three. There were 320,000 chips in the middle with the board reading {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and Ibrahim Raouf had shoved for what looked like 159,000.

Stanley Choi had that beat by just two big blinds and took his time before making the decision to call or fold. He eventually did call and Raouf mucked, claiming he had pocket aces. Choi's {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} won the pot and he effectually doubled up his stack. Dan Smith said "I thought you had it there" and Choi added he was afraid of pocket nines, Smith had put Raouf on the very same hand.

Vogelsang Folds to Mercier's Shove

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The action started with a raise to 13,000 by Salman Behbehani from the button and Christoph Vogelsang then made it 45,000 to go from one seat over. PokerStars Team Pro Jason Mercier four-bet to 92,000 and Behbehani quickly got out of the way while Vogelsang called. On the {J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop, Vogelsang check-called a bet worth 67,000 and checked again the {7-Spades} turn.

Mercier put his German opponent all in for his remaining 215,000 and Vogelsang gave it some consideration before folding.

Negreanu Doubles Up in the First Hand

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

In the first hand of the day, action folded to Daniel Negreanu in the cutoff. The PokerStars Team Pro shoved his last 51,000 in and started a monologue about charts and whatnot while awaiting his fate. His neighbor Timothy Adams was interested and called, both blinds folded.

"I just have ace-jack" said Negreanu. "That's good" Adams replied as he showed his {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. "Yeah it is!" Negreanu laughingly said while showing his {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}, "I sucked you in!"

The flop came {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Negreanu was all smiles. "Yeah baby! I saved a $100k by not shipping it in last night!" The {9-Spades} on the turn and {K-Diamonds} on the river made things official and Negreanu doubled up.

Greenwood Rings Shak's Bell

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Dan Shak
Dan Shak

It's an early shower for high roller/hedge fund manager Dan Shak, who exits the tournament before the NYSE bell has rung.

Shak got his relatively short stack in with the {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} versus Sam Greenwood's {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and found no joy on a {q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts} run out.

Kanit Folds to Juanda

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

From the cutoff, Mustapha Kanit raised to 13,000 and called the three-bet of John Juanda from one seat over for 36,000. On the {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop, Kanit checked and Juanda's continuation bet worth 32,000 won the pot.

Shortly after, Thomas Muehloecker open-shoved his below-average stack and found no caller.
