The third and final day of the 2016 PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Malta €10,300 High Roller saw the last eight hopefuls of a 144-entry strong field return to the tables of the Casino Portomaso. Pierre Neuville was leading the finalists but ultimately had to settle for second place as Stefan "mindgamer" Jedlicka emerged victorious for a payday of €335,200.

It has been a terrific start to the new EPT season for the Austrian. He who won the Estrellas €2,200 High Roller in Barcelona back in August for €251,500 and won the very same tournament here on Malta; emerging victorious in the IPT High Roller for €88,039.

The day started with the elimination of [Removed:172] in 8th place. The German was among the shorter stacks when play resumed and three-bet shoved with ace-queen. Neuville called with king-ten suited and flopped a king before even rivering a straight.

Next on the rail was Charlie Carrel who shoved from the cutoff with pocket deuces and saw Jedlicka reshove with pocket sevens from one seat over. The board brought no surprises and Carrel was eliminated in seventh place before he jumped into a Turbo Bounty Side Event and finished second to his friend Ben Heath.

Theo Jørgensen had a roller coaster of a day and became short stacked when Michael Kane cracked his aces with ace-jack. However, Jørgensen regained hope for the trophy when he got it all in against Liviu Ignat. Ignat's ace-jack suited found no help against the pocket sevens of Jørgensen and the field was reduced to the final five.

Cristian Egues had been the most aggressive player throughout the final table and his run came to an end in fifth place. The Basque three-bet shoved with ace-king and Neuville looked him up with pocket queens. The board ran out ten-high and Egues was eliminated.

Scotsman Michael Kane, who was supported by EPT12 Malta champion Niall Farrell and Ludovic Geilich on the rail, fell in fourth place. He was at risk with king-nine suited up against the with king-queen suited of Jedlicka. Kane turned two-pair, but Jedlicka improved to a flush on the river to make it a three-handed affair.

Team PokerStars Pro Theo Jørgensen ultimately bowed out in third place. A series of hands saw the Dane drop to 12 big blinds and he called all in out of the big blind with ace-king after Jedlicka had shoved the small blind with jack-ten. A jack on the flop and river set up the heads-up duel for the High Roller title.

Neuville and Jedlicka started out almost even in chips, but the latter pulled away several times. After almost three hours, Pierre Neuville was down to his last seven big blinds as he limped in with queen-jack. Jedlicka shoved with king-nine and the Belgian former November Niner and two-time EPT Main Event runner-up called. Neuville turned a queen, but Jedlicka spiked a six on the river to complete his straight and end the tournament. After finishing runner-up twice in EPT Main Events and WSOP bracelet events, another second place for Neuville.

This victory catapults Stefan Jedlicka, the younger brother of the legendary poker player Niki Jedlicka, into the top five on the Austrian all-time money list.

Pierre Neuville Eliminated in 2nd Place (€228,400)

Niveau 28 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante
Pierre Neuville
Pierre Neuville

After three hands with flops that brought no action, Pierre Neuville claimed one pot after the limp of Stefan Jedlicka and his own raise to 300,000.

What followed were seven hands in a row where Jedlicka was all in. Neuville limp-folded to a raise three times and forfeited his big blind another three times to fall down to less than eight big blinds.

In the seventh hand in a row, Neuville limped in, Jedlicka shoved and Neuville peeked at his cards again before calling it off.

Pierre Neuville: {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Stefan Jedlicka: {K-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and the queen on the turn was not enough for Neuville, as Jedlicka rivered the straight to eliminate the Belgian in second place for a payday of €228,400.

A recap of today's action will be available shortly!

Theo Jorgensen Eliminated in 3rd Place (€150,850)

Niveau 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Theo Jorgensen
Theo Jorgensen

Hand 1

Pierre Neuville raised to 125,000 on the button and Theo Jorgensen called in the big blind. The duo checked the {Q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop. Jorgensen then bet the {2-Hearts} turn for 150,000 and Neuville called. After the {K-Spades} river, both checked. Jorgensen showed {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Neuville claimed the pot with {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a pair of sevens.

Hand 2

Jorgensen raised to 125,000 from the button and Neuville called in the small blind. The flop came {8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Neuville check-called a bet of 125,000. On the {8-Hearts} turn and the {2-Hearts} river, both players checked. Neuville showed {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a flush and Jorgensen mucked.

Hand 3

"How much do you have left?" Stefan Jedlicka asked from the small blind, as short stack Jorgensen was in the big blind. "Around 600, maybe 650," the Dane replied. Jedlicka shoved and Jorgensen peeked at his cards. "The first is very good. The second one ... is even better, I call," Jorgensen announced.

Theo Jorgensen: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Stefan Jedlicka: {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The flop of {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} improved Jedlicka to a pair of jacks, and he stayed ahead after the {4-Spades} turn and {J-Spades} river completed the board. Jorgensen was eliminated in 3rd place and had to settle for a payday of €150,850.

Michael Kane Eliminated in 4th Place (€124,330)

Niveau 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Michael Kane
Michael Kane

Michael Kane was getting suspiciously short but won a little back by putting his 535,000 at risk over a 125,000 open from Pierre Neuville. Neuville folded and Kane chipped up to 710,000.

The very next hand the Scot was all-in once again. Stefan Jedlicka opened the button to 100,000, Kane announced all-in, Jorgensen folded in the big blind and as soon as the dealer had confirmed the amount, Jedlicka put in the chips.

Kane's {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs} was looking for help against the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} of Jedlicka, and he did get a few additional outs to a chop on the {A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{K-Hearts} flop.

The turn was as exciting as it gets as the {9-Diamonds} rolled off, giving Kane two pair and Jedlicka the flush draw.

The river {3-Diamonds} completed the diamond flush for the Austrian, and thus Kane joined his buddies Ludovic Geilich and Niall Farrell on the rail.

Cristian Egues Eliminated in 5th Place (€99,870)

Niveau 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Cristian Egues
Cristian Egues

Cristian Egues has definitely made a name for himself in this €10,300 High Roller final, but he has just been send to the rail by Pierre Neuville in the most classic of coinflips.

Pierre Neuville opened to 135,000 from under the gun and Cristian Egues shoved all in for 1,045,000 fro the button. The blinds quickly folded, and Neuville didn't take too many seconds before making the call.

Pierre Neuville: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Cristian Egues: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

It was all in the hands of the dealer now, and when the board ran out {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades} it was adiós Egues.

This was also a welcome elimination for Theo Jorgensen, who just made another pay jump despite having been the shortest stack at the table for quite some time. The remaining four players are now guaranteed €124,330.

Liviu Ignat Eliminated in 6th Place (€78,220)

Liviu Ignat

Liviu Ignat open-shoved from the cutoff for 435,000 and Theo Jorgensen announced the call from one seat over without asking for a count, the players in the blinds folded and the cards were tabled.

Liviu Ignat: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Theo Jorgensen: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}

The {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop changed nothing, and the {7-Clubs} on the turn gave Jorgensen a set. However, Ignat picked up a flush draw and said "never easy." However, the {3-Spades} on the river was a blank and Ignat fell in 6th place for €78,220.

Jorgensen Finds King on the River to Double Up

Theo Jorgensen

"Let's play!", Theo orgensen said as he sat down at the table following the break, and that he indeed had come to play became apparent in the very first hand after the tournament clock was restarted.

Cristian Egues opened for 75,000 from the hijack and Jorgensen shoved all-in from the small blind for 590,000 total.

Back on Egues he quickly cut out a tower of 25k chips, and hesitated only for a few seconds before making the call.

Cristian Egues: {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Theo Jorgensen: {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Egues' ace high was in front, and that didn't change on the {Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop or the {8-Diamonds} turn. Jorgensen stood up from his chair and prepared his departure, but the {K-Diamonds} made him quickly get back in his seat.

"Oooooh. Oooh la laaaaa", Jorgensen said with a french accent as he was awarded the pot. The Dane is alive and kicking at this €10,300 High Roller.

Action folded to Charlie Carrel in cutoff and the Englishman jammed his last 352,000 chips. Stefan Jedlicka on the button followed suit and put his money in the middle, and the blinds quickly folded.

Stefan Jedlicka: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Neither the flop {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, the turn {5-Hearts} or the river {8-Clubs} provided any help for Carrel, and he could do nothing but shake his opponents hands and bow out in 7th place.
