Arnaud Enselme Eliminated in 15th Place (€11,800)

Niveau 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Arnaud Enselme
Arnaud Enselme

Dennis Schienagel limped in middle position, Arnaud Enselme shoved 345,000 on the button, Sam Higgs called from the big blind, and Schienagel called as well.

On the {j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop, Higgs shook Schienagel out with a bet to get it heads-up to showdown.

Arnaud Enselme: {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Sam Higgs: {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Corentin Ropert was cheering on his friend on the rail, but the help from the EPT Prague 25k winner proved of no avail as the {4-Clubs} turn and {9-Hearts} river ended the young French's attempt in 15th place.

Cakmak Takes More From Schienagel

Niveau 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

On a {3-Hearts}{k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop, Emrah Cakmak bet 150,000 and Dennis Schienagel made it 400,000 behind him. Cakmak came along with a call before the {8-Hearts} landed on the turn. With a quick flick of his wrist, Schienagel bet 300,000 and Cakmak called once again.

Both players checked the {6-Clubs} on the river. Schienagel showed {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} but was second best to Cakmak's {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, who's been trending nothing but up.

Two Shoves From Haran, Cakmak Shoves As Well

Niveau 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

James Romero raised to 130,000 on the button, Shachar Haran three-bet shoved 840,000 from the small blind, and Romero folded. Two hands later, Romero opened again and Haran three-bet shoved again as well, followed once again by a fold from the American.

At the other table, Emrah Cakmak check-called a 320,000 bet from Dennis Schienagel on a {8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop. On the {a-Spades} turn, Cakmak checked, Schienagel bet 475,000, Cakmak check-raised all in for 1,770,000, and Schienagel folded after two minutes.

"All the paint, but nothing for me," Higgs would remark after the dealer fanned out {j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} to double up Cakmak.

The €1,100 French National Championship Crowns a Winner Today

Jacquelyn Scott
Jacquelyn Scott

The 2019 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour (EPT) is in full swing and today, the €1,100 French National Championship will be one of many tournaments crowning a champion. Out of a field of 1,425 entries, just sixteen are left standing as play recommences at noon local time. Each of them will take home at least €10,450, but the juiciest slice of the €1,382,250 prize pool is still up for grabs. The winner at the end of the day will take home €244,500 and accompanying bragging rights.

Last year, Guillaume Diaz took it home for the Frenchies in what was a widely celebrated victory across the Salle des Etoiles room. Sylvain Mazza is the nation's prime contender today, as he'll start off with the chip lead (5,200,000). Four more Frenchies are in contention as well, but they're hugging the bottom four spots on the leaderboard and have their work cut out for them. Arnaud Enselme (710,000) is one of them, but the dangerous French online star and best friend of €25,000 EPT Prague champ Corentin Ropert has to claw his way back from the shortest of stacks.

Hot on Mazza's heels are James Romero (5,140,000) and Dennis Schienagel (5,120,000), separated not even two big blinds from the chip leader. Romero took out Ole Schemion in brutal fashion late last night to claim a top spot and with more than 3M in lifetime winnings on The Hendon Mob, the American will be among the most experienced in the field to close it out today.

Behind the top three, there's plenty of firing power lurking in the wings such as 2015 WSOP Ladies Event champ Jacquelyn Scott (3,775,000), three-time Aussie Millions event winner Sam Higgs (3,535,000), rising Austrian talent Mario Mösbock (2,410,000), and 2018 WSOPE Main Event winner Jack Sinclair (2,035,000), among others.

There's just 1 minute and 20 seconds remaining in level 26, with blinds at 25,000/50,000 and a 50,000 big blind ante when players return to the Monte-Carlo Sporting at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. PokerNews will be your one-stop shop for all the action from the principality as no fewer than six tournaments are live covered today, with four of them playing down to a winner.
