Martini Clashes With Schemion

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Julien Martini
Julien Martini

At one of the corner tables in the Salle des Etoiles, two of the biggest names in the field clashed in a three-bet pot. Ole Schemion, who already claimed five trophies at previous EPT's in Monte Carlo, raised it up from middle position and PSPC runner-up Julien Martini three-bet him from the cutoff. Schemion came along with the call.

The flop came down {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Schemion checked. Martini bet 36,000, Schemion check-raised to 90,000, and Martini called. The turn brought the {10-Hearts} and Schemion shoved all in with superior stack, more than enough to put Martini to the test for his remaining 200,000.

The Frenchman thought for two minutes before calling it off for his tournament life.

Julien Martini: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Ole Schemion: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

Schemion had flopped a set to take a commanding lead in the hand, and Martini needed to catch an eight, jack, or king if he was to survive. The {10-Spades} on the river was neither and he was forced to make his way to the exit. With the hand, Schemion soared over a million in chips to pad his chip lead even further.

Jack Salter: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Stefano Schiano: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The {6-Clubs} turn sealed the fate of Salter and the {10-Clubs} river ended his tournament, while Schiano soared to a big stack.

Two for Bendinelli

Niveau 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Alisa Sibgatova
Alisa Sibgatova

In a pot that already contained nearly 200,000, action was between Giuliano Bendinelli in the small blind and Bruno Caron on the button. With the {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{a-Diamonds} board completed, Bendinelli shoved his remaining 160,000 or so in the middle. Caron, with about 127,000 behind, thought for around a minute before folding his hand.

A few hands later, Bendinelli raised in late position and Alisa Sibgatova committed her final few big blinds to the pot after him. Bendinelli paid off the small amount to put the Russian at risk.

Alisa Sibgatova: {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Giuliano Bendinelli: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}

The{q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{q-Hearts} board left no doubt who'd walk away as the winner and Sibgatova said her goodbyes.
