Who Will Reach the Final Table of the €50,000 EPT Super High Roller

Super High Roller
Super High Roller

The 2019 PokerStars EPT Prague festival is in full swing now and this is one of the marquee events with the largest buy-in throughout the week. After a quick Day 1 that saw a total of 30 entries in the €50,000 EPT Super High Roller, at least 21 players will return to their seats for action on Day 2.

Kahle Burns bagged the largest stack after just six levels with an impressive 899,000 chips. Burns went on a late heater, sending multiple players to the rail en route to the chip lead. He will be followed by Vladimir Troyanovskiy with 687,000 chips and Ben Heath with 646,000. Both Troyanovskiy and Heath have already cashed in events this week and will be looking to add to their success as Day 2 continues.

Some other notables near the top of the counts include Chin Wei Lim (532,000), Timothy Adams (508,000), Juha Helppi (443,000), and Sam Greenwood (323,000). There are few players who didn't take part in Day 1 who are expected to register today that include Adrian Mateos, winner of Event #1, Sergio Aido, Bryn Kenney, and Davidi Kitai.

With late registration open for another two levels, there are also many players who are expected to return for a second bullet. This tournament does provide an unlimited re-entry option so the action should be fast-paced in the early going. The cards will go in the air at 12:30 p.m. local time with the blinds resuming at 2,000/4,000 with a 4,000 big blind ante. A starting stack is worth 250,000 chips which gives the players plenty of big blinds to work with.

The suggested schedule for Day 2 is to play 10 levels or until the final six players are reached. There will be a 15-minute break after every two levels and a dinner break has not been decided on as of yet. The prizepool and payout information will be available once the registration period is closed.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates throughout the day on route to the final table. A champion will be crowned on Day 3 tomorrow.

Defending Champion Eibinger Eliminated; Thorel Leads

Niveau 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Matthias Eibinger
Matthias Eibinger

Defending champion Matthias Eibinger was all in for 53,000 and had been called by Day 1 chip leader Kahle Burns.

Matthias Eibinger: {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Kahle Burns; {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

The {3-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades} offered a little bit of everything. Burns had flopped top pair and the nut flush draw, but was still behind to the bottom set of Eibinger.

The turn {2-Spades} completed Burns' flush draw.

"Oh come on," said Eibinger, imploring the river card to pair the board, but it came the {10-Clubs} and he was eliminated.

Here are the chip counts for his table, with Thorel still leading with over 900,000 in chips.

Something for Everyone

Niveau 10 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Derek Ip
Derek Ip

Sam Greenwood opened to 20,000 from under the gun and was called by Derek Ip in the cutoff and Kahle Burns in the small blind. Juan Pardo three-bet to 90,000 in the big blind and all three players called.

The flop of {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} was spread across the felt and the action checked to Ip who shipped all in for 71,000. Burns and Pardo both called and Greenwood got out of the way.

The turn brought the {a-Hearts} and both Burns and Pardo checked to the {4-Diamonds} on the river. Burns tossed in a small bet of 60,000 to create a side pot and Pardo looked him up. Burns tabled {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for trip fours while Pardo showed {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. Ip was holding {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} which mean Burns collected everything and Ip was eliminated.

Greenwood Calls Burns' Bluff and Doubles into the Chip Lead

Niveau 11 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

After both players committed 100,000 pre-flop and 125,000 on the {3-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} flop, Sam Greenwood checked from the blinds and opponent Kahle Burns bet 140,000 on the {9-Clubs} turn.

Greenwood called and the river was the {j-Spades}. Greenwood checked again and Burns moved all in, covering his opponent. The Canadian sat with 428,000 behind and fanned his time extensions out in front of him as he counted his stack and pondered his decision.

He used two of them before calling. Burns showed {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a stone-cold bluff and Greenwood took down the pot with {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}, doubling to around 1.6 million in chips.

Burns' Stack Explodes

Kahle Burns
Kahle Burns

Sam Greenwood opened to 24,000 for the second straight hand and Jean-Noel Thorel called on his left. Kahle Burns three-bet shoved all in for 368,000 in the small blind for the second hand in a row as well. This time, Greenwood flicked in a call but Thorel let his hand go.

Sam Greenwood: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Kahle Burns: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}

Burns was up against it with Greenwood holding the nut hand and the flop of {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades} didn't help much. The {6-Diamonds} on the turn got a rise out of Thorel but Burns was left drawing dead to the {k-Hearts} on the river. Within a matter of minutes, Burns who was at the top of the counts was now eliminated and that position now belongs to Greenwood.
