Hvam Busts Velvelt in Setup Hand

Niveau 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Morten_Hvam
Morten_Hvam

Urmo Velvelt was one of the 19 Day 2 entries and had run up his stack to more than 150,000. All that just came to a crashing end when he clashed with Morten Hvam. The latter had been the initial raiser and Velvelt three-bet the button to 16,500. Hvam four-bet to 42,000 and snap-called the shove of Velvelt.

Urmo Velvelt: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Morten Hvam: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

The board came {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and the aces held up to send Velvelt to the rail.

Kassouf Misses Draw; Busts to Stoenescu

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
William Kassouf
William Kassouf

William Kassouf had bet-folded to a shove by Andreas Klatt not long ago and was just now involved in a three-way pot with Andrei Stoenescu and Petr Hlavacek.

The flop showed {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Stoenescu bet 4,400, Kassouf in the hijack shoved for 28,800 and Hlavacek in the cutoff folded, Stoenescu called.

William Kassouf: {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Andrei Stoenescu: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

"Any nine, ace or king about?" Kassouf inquired but his wish was not granted on the {7-Spades} turn and {q-Spades} river run out.

Zahiti Poised for Another Deep Run

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Fidan Zahiti
Fidan Zahiti

Fidan Zahiti finished 13th in the €1,100 National a few days ago here at Hilton Prague and scored a payday of €21,940. His return in the €5,300 Main Event may very well be far bigger than that as he is off to a great start on Day 2.

Just now he knocked out Liran Twito when his opponent got it in after the {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{7-Spades} river and briefly showed his cards. Zahiti had the best of it with {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for a flopped set and full fouse on the river, and the Swede soared up the leaderboard.

Liao Loses Via Suckout

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Dominik Panka
Dominik Panka

All of the chips got in the middle preflop between Chien Liao in early position and Dominik Panka, who was in the cutoff, with effective stacks totaling around 90,000.

Chien Liao: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Dominik Panka: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The flop came {2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} to keep Liao out in front and poised for a double. The turn {6-Hearts} brought a pair onboard, giving Panka six outs to a chop, but he ended up winning the entire pot as the river {q-Diamonds} hit the felt to earn him the knockout and surpass 200,000 along the way.

Tournament Room
Tournament Room

Both of the starting days of the €5,300 Main Event are wrapped up at the European Poker Tour Prague and Day 1a and 1b managed to get a combined 1,136 entries. Registration is still open for those who haven't fired two bullets yet until noon local time when cards will be in the air for Day 2. At least 395 players are returning for Day 2 of the Main Event.

Players that register before the start of Day 2 will receive a fresh stack of 30,000 chips which will be worth a little under 20 big blinds. They will have a lot of work cut out for them if they want to get close to start of day chip leader Pierre Calamusa. Calamusa managed to bag a very impressive 457,000 on Day 1a of the tournament. Bart Lybaert ended as Day 1b chip leader after finishing the day with 333,400.

Others that will try to run up a stack on Day 2 of the Main Event include PokerStars Ambassador Kalidou Sow (79,000). Sow is the only player left in the field that is repping the Red Spade and he has a stack of about 50 big blinds to start the day as they will start in level 11 with blinds at 800/1,600 and with a 1,600 big blind ante.

Others that made it through with a stack of over 100 big blinds include Gab Yong Kim with 220,800, Steve O'Dwyer (206,400), Yake Wu (197,200), Bryn Kenney (180,700), and Dario Sammartino (168,000). They will all play five 90-minute levels today with a break after every level. There will be a 20-minute break after all levels except for after level 14. That break will be 30 minutes long.
