Nemeth Eliminated by the Champ

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Andras Nemeth
Andras Nemeth

The tail end of a hand between Hossein Ensan and Andras Nemeth was caught, where the WSOP Main Event winner's pocket queens were still proudly face-up on a {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades} board.

According to the table, Nemeth had moved in with the ace-five suited — not of hearts — and was therefore eliminated.

O'Neill Tangles With Boivin

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Jack O'Neill raised to 3,500 from the hijack, Thomas Boivin made it 11,000 on the button and O'Neill called. Both players checked the {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and O'Neill bet 14,500, which Boivin called. The river was the {j-Hearts} and O'Neill opted for a smaller bet of 12,000. The Belgian glossed over his options but ultimately elected to call with {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a straight. O'Neill had {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for two pair and had to part with around a third of his stack.

Zahiti Poised for Another Deep Run

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Fidan Zahiti
Fidan Zahiti

Fidan Zahiti finished 13th in the €1,100 National a few days ago here at Hilton Prague and scored a payday of €21,940. His return in the €5,300 Main Event may very well be far bigger than that as he is off to a great start on Day 2.

Just now he knocked out Liran Twito when his opponent got it in after the {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{7-Spades} river and briefly showed his cards. Zahiti had the best of it with {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for a flopped set and full fouse on the river, and the Swede soared up the leaderboard.

Calamusa Bluffs Boelling

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

With some 75,000 in the middle and the turn showing {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{a-Spades}, Andreas Boelling faced a bet of 55,000 by Pierre Calamusa and reluctantly folded, mentioning in table chat he had two pair with nine-six.

Calamusa showed a bluff with the {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and raked in the pot. The Frenchman is down from his peak, however, as several others on his table have chipped up.

Lybaert Continues Day 1b Dominance

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Bart Lybaert
Bart Lybaert

Bart Lybaert ended Day 1b of the tournament as chip leader with over 200 big blinds and he hasn't slowed down a bit since then.

PokerStars ambassador Kalidou Sow folded under the gun and Lybaert sat in the next seat when he raised to 7,500. It folded around to Vivian Im in the big blind and she called.

The flop was dealt {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and both Im and Lybaert quickly checked to see the {4-Diamonds} on the turn. Im checked again and Lybaert made a delayed continuation-bet worth 7,500. He was called by Im and the two saw the {q-Diamonds} complete the board on the river.

Im checked again and the Belgian fired a bet of 8,000 this time. It took Im a minute but she eventually let her hand go and the chips were pushed to Lybaert.

Burns Eliminates Zhechev

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Ivan Zhechev was on the button and got his last 10,400 in before the flop against Simon Burns, who was in middle position.

Ivan Zhechev: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}
Simon Burns: {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Zhechev would only be out in front until the flop came {7-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, with the turn {8-Spades} leaving him drawing dead before the river {q-Spades} finished the runout, sending him to the rail as the pot was shipped Burns' way.

El Asmar Holds, Ruida Can't Pull the Trigger

Niveau 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Preflop, the stack of an unknown player under the gun was in the middle for 67,000 and Hady El Asmar had come over the top for 87,400. Presumably, the player under the gun had limp-shoved all in, as both Lin Ruida and Ran Azor had 6,300 in front of them in the blinds.

Ruida, not shy of the spotlights, took the better part of three minutes and appeared to be looking to make a big overcall. He ultimately didn't do so but was in dismay when {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} from the under-the-gun player and {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} from El Asmar.

"Ace-king, ace-queen, I thought so," the Chinese player chimed in, claiming he folded pocket sixes. The board ran out {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and much to Ruida's dismay, El Asmar walked away with the sizable pot.
