Noon Restart For Day 3 of the 2019 EPT Prague Main Event

Dominik Panka
Dominik Panka

Out of a field of 1,154 entries, only 141 hopefuls remain to battle for the lion's share of the €5,596,900 prize pool and will return to their seats at the Hilton Prague at noon local time for Day 3 of the 2019 PokerStars EPT Prague €5,300 European Poker Tour (EPT) Main Event. It is the third-biggest EPT Prague Main Event in the 13 years of history of the festival in the Czech capital and all those still in contention already have €9,850 locked up for their efforts.

The action will recommence with blinds of 2,000-5,000 and a big blind ante of 5,000, and five levels of 90 minutes each are scheduled to bring the field one step closer to crowning a champion in the days to come.

At the top of the leaderboard, Roman Herold (769,000) and Xiaqing Ji (768,000) are separated by a single chip only and the all-time highest-earning player Bryn Kenney follows in third place with 656,000. It would certainly be no surprise to see Kenney take another shot at a seven-figure score as a top prize of €1,005,600 is reserved for the eventual champion.

Other notables with more than half a million in chips at their disposal include 2019 EPT Open Sochi runner-up Giorgiy Skhulukhiya (634,000), Luke Marsh (626,000), Giuseppe Carbone (611,000), Pierre Calamusa (601,000), Teun Mulder (573,000), €1,100 EPT Prague National 13th place finisher Fidan Zahiti (543,000) and Akin Tuna (536,000).

Ten former EPT champions remain in contention to become the second two-time winner of the popular circuit and they are led by Dominik Panka (497,000), Ognyan Dimov (313,000) and Aliaksei Boika (220,000). Former Prague champions Hossein Ensan (180,000), Martin Finger (118,000), and PokerStars ambassador Kalidou Sow (70,000) will also be joined at the tables by Mikalai Pobal (162,000), Sebastian Sorensson (148,000), Steve O'Dwyer (101,000), and Davidi Kitai (93,000).

As of Day 3, a 30-second shot clock will be in play and all participants receive five 30-second time bank extensions, which will be replenished every day until the final table.

The live stream action of the feature table with hole cards displayed on a security delay of 30 minutes will be available on the PokerStars Twitch, YouTube and Facebook channels and the PokerNews team will be on the floor to provide all the action from start to finish.

The shot clock has been introduced now the Main Event has reached Day 3.

Each player will receive five time banks at the start of each day, worth 30 second each.

If a player's 30-second shot clock reaches zero, they will automatically use a time bank unless they do not have any remaining. Then the dealer will announce a five-second countdown and, unless acted upon, their hand will be declared dead.

Marsh Marched into the Chip Lead

Luke Marsh
Luke Marsh

Joao Mestre Ferreira raised to 11,000 from the early position and Luke Marsh three-bet to 33,000 in the cutoff while the rest of the table folded. Ferreira responded with a four-bet to 88,000 which Marsh called.

They both checked through the {9-Hearts}{q-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop to the {3-Diamonds} on the turn. Ferreira bet 115,000 and Marsh called.

The river completed the board with the {9-Clubs} and Ferreira tanked, using a time bank card, and then decided to shove for around 230,000. Marsh snap-called with {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for trip nines. Ferreira held {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for two pair which wasn't enough and he was sent to the rail as Marsh had him covered.

Kalidou Sow got his short stack of around 60,000 in from the button and Stanislav Koleno made the call in the big blind.

Sow's {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} faced the {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} of Koleno and he picked up some equity on the {7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop. However, the {5-Hearts} turn and {4-Spades} river brought no help to the PokerStars ambassador and he was eliminated in the first level of the day.

Earlier on the stream, both Orpen Kisacikoglu {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Xiaqing Ji {j-Spades}{9-Spades} saw a flop of {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Kisacikoglu checked and Ji bet 15,000. The Turk check-raised to 45,000 and Ji then re-raised to 125,000.

Kisacikoglu tanked before shoving for 427,000 and Ji eventually folded.

A short while later, Ionut Voinea opened {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} to 11,000 and Kisacikoglu {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} called on the button. Ji was in the big blind with {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and opted to three-bet to 45,000.

Voinea four-bet all in for 132,000 and Ji called.

The {q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} flop improved Voinea to a set and there were no worries on the {6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} runout as Voinea doubled up.

Ognyan Dimov

Kemal Aslan raised to 18,000 in middle position and Ognyan Dimov called one seat over. Vlastimil Pustina three-bet to 75,000 in the small blind, Aslan folded and Dimov called.

The flop was {q-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Spades} and Pustina bet 45,000, which Dimov called. The turn was the {j-Hearts} and Pustina fired another bullet worth 75,000. Dimov used one time bank card before calling, leaving himself with a mere 79,000 behind.

The river was the {2-Clubs} and Pustina shoved all in within seconds. Being on a payjump bubble, Dimov picked up his remaining time bank cards and spread all four of them out in front of him.

After burning through the extra minutes there was still no bustout on any of the other tables and the Bulgarian called it off with one second remaining.

Pustana showed {a-Spades}{2-Spades} for the flopped nut flush, Dimov flashed {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and became the last player to collect €10,970.

Monster Double for Panka, Adams Eliminated

Niveau 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Dominik Panka
Dominik Panka

From under the gun, Timothy Adams moved all in for his last 67,000. Dominik Panka, seated to his direct left, also shoved all in for 351,000. Behind him was Claudio Di Giacomo, who had a little more than Panka.

The Italian called as well to put two players at risk and the cards went on their backs.

Timothy Adams: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Dominik Panka: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Claudio Di Giacomo: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop was a monster flop for Di Giacomo, which left Adams with just one and Panka with four outright outs to win. The {7-Spades} on the turn added a little more hope for Adams but it would be Panka with the last laugh as the {k-Hearts} rolled off on the river for a big win.
