It's here. The wait is over as today signals the start of the flagship event of the entire festival. Last year there were 861 entries in the Main Event and it was Arsenii Karmatckii who took home the title, the trophy and $478,451 in prize money. The total number of entries in the National beat its 2018 counterpart and time will tell if the Main Event can do the same.
There are certainly plenty of opportunities for players to get involved as there are three starting flights and a single re-entry allowed in each. The buy-in is RUB 191,800 ($2,968) and players begin with 30,000 starting chips. Levels are 60-minutes long and late registration closes at the start of Day 2.
It all kicks off at midday and on the schedule for today are ten levels with a 20-minute break after every two levels, except for the one-hour dinner break. This means that play is expected to pause for the night at midnight.
PokerNews will be here for the duration so see you tomorrow at 12pm for live updates throughout the day.

Team PokerStars Pro Ramon Colillas has taken a seat. The 30-year-old Spaniard took down the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold'em Championship (PSPC) in the Bahamas in January after winning a Platinum Pass to the biggest $25,000 tournament in poker history.
