Arsenii Karmatckii
Arsenii Karmatckii

Arsenii Karmatckii, the reigning EPT Sochi Champion is in the field. He is off to a good start after winning a hand against Giorgiy Skhulukhiya

It began with a 600 middle position open from Karmatckii and Skhulukhiya, who was sat on his direct left made a small three-bet to 1,300, which Karmatckii called.

On the {7-Hearts}{10-Spades}{q-Spades} flop Karmatckii check-called the 1,100 continuation. There was no betting on the {q-Clubs} turn and on the {k-Hearts} river, Karmatckii checked once more. Skhulukhiya bet a much larger 5,100 bet this time and Karmatckii thought about it before calling. He turned over [kdjc[, which was good against Skhulukhiya's {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

Azizov Takes the Initiative

Niveau 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Andrey Andreev limped under the gun and declared "monster" whilst indicating towards his hole cards. There were a few chuckles around the table but not from Jan Bogucki, who was quiet as he raised it up to 800. Timur Azizov was sat in the blind and called, as did Andreev.

The dealer laid {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{10-Clubs} on the flop and Azizov opted to take the betting lead, making it 1,500 to play. Both of his opponents came along and the {2-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Azizov bet again, making it a hefty 5 to go further and Andreev and Bogucki quickly folded.

Niveau 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Oleg Breshkov was in a pot against Aleksey Opalikhin on a {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades} board. There was 7,300 in the middle when Breshkov checked and Opalikhin made it 7,000 to call. Breshkov was in a difficult spot and went into the tank before someone called the clock.

When the 30 seconds of time had nearly expired, Breshkov passed and Opalikhin took the chips.

Amani Pulls Some Back

Niveau 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

Ezatulla Amani was down to about half of starting stack at the beginning of the hand. He opened to 500 from under the gun and Valeriy Vasilev three-bet to 1,000 on the button, which Amani called.

The flop showed {4-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Amani check-called the 1,000 continuation bet. Both players checked the {10-Clubs} turn and on the river Amani lead for 2,500. Vasilev didn't seem to like it very much, thinking for a minute or so before making the call. He mucked when he saw Amani had a pair of aces with {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Amani took the pot.

Niveau 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Sergey Baburin is out of the starting blocks after putting pressure on Andrey Andreev. There was 5,300 in the pot with {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Spades} on show and Andreev check-called Baburin's 4,200 bet.

On the {2-Hearts} river, Andreev checked and Baburin made it a round 10,000 to see his cards. Andreev shook his head whilst deciding what to do, before deciding that fold was the best option.
