The first €25,000 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller kicks off today at 12:30 pm local time at the 2022 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague being held at King's Casino Prague. It will be a fast-paced day with some of the best in the business taking to the felt with a winner being crowned later tonight.

The high-roller scene at this year's series in Prague kicked off a couple of days ago with the €10,000 Mystery Bounty event and it was Rodrigo Seiji who captured the title, earning just over €100,000 including the three bounties that he scored at the end of the tournament.

Many familiar faces are expected to return to the action including runner-up Jorryt van Hoof, Adrian Mateos, Daniel Dvoress, Sam Greenwood, and runner-up from last year's event Juan Pardo. At the 2021 event, which was held in March of 2022, a total of 35 entries were recorded but that number could be topped this year.

Players will begin with 100,000 starting chips with the blinds kicking off at 500/1,000 and a 1,000 big blind ante. The levels will be 30 minutes in length with a 15-minute break after every three or four levels. Late registration will remain open until after the dinner break which takes place after level 10. The tournament is designed with an unlimited re-entry option but something new to note at this event is the 15-second shot clock for preflop action and 30 seconds for each street after that.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor to bring you all of the live updates en route to crowning a champion later this evening.

Pardo and Kulev Risk It All

Niveau 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

Jean-Noel Thorel raised to 2,500 from under the gun and was called by Alex Kulev on his left. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Thorel continued with a bet of 6,000. Kulev called and the {k-Clubs} rolled off on the turn.

Thorel fired out another 6,000 and Kulev raised to 19,000 this time. Thorel called and the {4-Hearts} landed on the river. Thorel checked this time and Kulev jammed all in for 36,000. Thorel quickly called and Kulev turned over {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for a set of deuces to beat Thorel's {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

On the other table, Juan Pardo and Mike Watson were heads-up in the blinds on a board reading {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Watson bet 10,000 on the turn and Pardo check-raised to 30,000 which Watson called.

The river brought the {5-Diamonds} and Pardo thought for a moment before shoving all in for 54,000. Watson gave it some thought but decided to lay his hand down.

Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

Juan Pardo raised to 4,000 from under the gun and was called by Sam Greenwood and Adrian Mateos in the blinds. The flop came {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and the action checked around to the {4-Spades} on the turn.

Greenwood led out with a bet of 4,000 which got Mateos to fold but Pardo called. The {7-Spades} completed the board and Greenwood dropped in another bet of 7,000. Pardo raised to 28,000 and Greenwood flicked in a chip to call. Pardo showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for just ace-high while Greenwood held {q-Spades}{10-Spades} for a flush to take the pot.

Adams Runs Into Kings

Niveau 4 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Timothy Adams
Timothy Adams

Timothy Adams raised to 3,500 in the cutoff and Adrian Mateos three-bet to 11,000 out of the small blind. The action was back on Adams who four-bet shoved all in for 54,500. Mateos snap-called and the cards were on their backs.

Timothy Adams: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}
Adrian Mateos: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The flop of {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts} provided no immediate help for Adams who was looking for an ace to stay alive. However, the {k-Clubs} on the turn gave Mateos a set of kings and Adams was left drawing dead to the {8-Hearts} on the river.

Sam Greenwood raised to 5,000 on the button and Adrian Mateos three-bet to 19,000 in the small blind. Greenwood responded with a four-bet shove all in and Mateos instantly called off his stack of 143,500.

Adrian Mateos: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Sam Greenwood: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Both players woke up with premium hands with each table playing four-handed. The flop of {q-Spades}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts} gave Greenwood some added outs but the {j-Diamonds}, {5-Spades} runout was no help and Mateos doubled up.

Thorel Doubles, Then Busts

Niveau 7 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

Jean-Noel Thorel was down to just 14,000 chips and got them all in with {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. He was up against Orpen Kisacikoglu with {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and they were off to the flop. The board ran out {7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Thorel spiked a ten on the river to double up.

A couple of hands later, Thorel was all in again for around 35,000 and found himself up against Kisacikoglu once again.

Jean-Noel Thorel: {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Orpen Kisacikoglu: {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

The flop came {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Thorel hit an eight on the flop to take the lead. The {3-Spades} on the turn changed nothing but it was the {10-Clubs} on the river that sent Thorel to the rail.

Holz Felted by Mateos

Niveau 9 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The action started with a raise to 6,500 by Fedor Holz and Adrian Mateos glanced at his stack from one seat over before clicking it up to 20,000. It folded all the way back to Holz, who pushed all-in and was snap-called.

Fedor Holz: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Adrian Mateos: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}

The {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop vaulted Mateos into the lead but Holz had outs with a gutshot. More outs were added with the {a-Hearts} on the turn but the {a-Diamonds} river was a blank, sending Holz to the rail fewer than half an hour after he had entered the tournament.

Thorel Eliminated by Kisacikoglu

Niveau 9 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

The action kicked off with a raise to 6,500 by Orpen Kisacikoglu in the cutoff. Jean-Noel Thorel then three-bet to 15,000 on the button and Kisacikoglu called. Both headed to the {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop on which Kisacikoglu checked. Thorel made it 15,000 to go only for his opponent to check-raise to 35,000.

"How much?" Thorel inquired with the dealer to confirm the amount. He then moved all-in for what appeared to be 108,000 and Kisacikoglu snap-called.

Jean-Noel Thorel: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Orpen Kisacikoglu: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}

The {9-Clubs} turn left Thorel with two outs and he missed them on the {10-Hearts} river.

Thorel Doubles Through Kulev

Niveau 10 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

Alex Kulev raised to 8,500 in the cutoff and Jean-Noel Thorel called in the big blind. Both checked the {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop and the {j-Diamonds} followed on the turn. Thorel now bet 10,000 and Kulev raised to 37,000. The French businessman confirmed the amount once more to then push all-in and get snap-called by Kulev.

A rather disappointed Thorel vaulted out of his seat and was ready to leave while showing the {k-Spades}{q-Spades} for broadway. However, he had a lock on the hand already as Kulev's {9-Spades}{7-Spades} only represented the bottom end of the straight.

"You are good," Steve O'Dwyer immediately said as Thorel sat back down while the {5-Hearts} rolled off on the river.

"I was sure to lose," Thorel added with a smile on the face, apparently expecting to run right into a possible flush.
