Martirosian Doubles Through Addamo

Artur Martirosian
Artur Martirosian

With roughly 14,000 in the pot on a {9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop, Michael Addamo led for 6,700 in the big blind, and Artur Martirosian called in the hijack.

The {5-Hearts} landed on the turn, Addamo checked, and Martirosian bet 8,500. Addamo then check-jammed, and Martirosian thought about it before calling for his 29,400 total chips.

Artur Martirosian: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Michael Addamo: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The {7-Diamonds} river failed to improve Addamo, and Martirosian secured the double early in the day.

Orpaz Binks Straight to Eliminate Dimov

Niveau 3 : Blinds 100/300, 300 ante
Tom Orpaz
Tom Orpaz

Tom Orpaz relayed in vivid detail a hand to PokerNews where he busted Ognyan Dimov.

According to Orpaz, Dimov opened to 600 on the button and Orpaz called in the small blind, as did Jean-Noel Thorel in the big blind.

On the flop of {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-}, Orpaz said he "donk-bet" 1,000 after announcing he would do so ahead of the flop. Thorel folded and Dimov raised to 3,500 and Orpaz called.

Orpaz then checked dark before the {q-} on the turn and Dimov bet 6,500. Orpaz check-jammed and Dimov called off with his stack of around 40,000.

Orpaz showed {10-}{8-} for a turned straight to be ahead of the flopped set of Dimov with {9-}{9-}. The {k-} on the river didn't change things and Dimov hit the rail as Orpaz attempted to console him.

"That hand played itself," Orpaz said about the wildly unconventional hand.

An Orbit With Addamo

Niveau 5 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

Michael Addamo has proven to be one of the top crushers on the poker high roller scene, so PokerNews spent an orbit with the Australian.

Hand #1 (Big Blind): Sven Andersson opened to 800 on the button and Mikita Badziakouski flat-called in the small blind. Addamo three-bet to 4,500 and both opponents folded to win Addamo the pot.

Hand #2: (Small Blind): Artur Martirosian raised to 900 in early position and Addamo folded when the action folded around.

Hand #3: (Button): Andersson opened to 900 from the hijack and Addamo flat-called on the button, while Motoyoshi Okamura also came along from the big blind. Okamura checked on the flop of {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and Andersson continued for 800. Addamo folded.

Hand #4: (Cutoff): The action folded around to Addamo and he also folded.

Hand #5 (Hijack): The action again folded to Addamo and he followed suit.

Hand #6: (Late Position): Addamo raised to 800 when the action folded around and the rest of the table folded to earn Addamo the pot without a fight.

Hand #7 (UTG): Addamo folded.

Seidel Cracks Aces

Niveau 6 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante
Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

Erik Seidel opened in the hijack, Kelvin Kerber three-bet on the button, and Seidel called.

The dealer fanned out the {9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop and Seidel checked. Kerber bet 3,000, Seidel check-raised to 8,000, and Kerber moved all in for approximately 40,000. Seidel quickly put in the chips.

Kelvin Kerber: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Erik Seidel: {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}

Kerber was in rough shape against Seidel's flopped set, and he failed to improve on the {10-Diamonds} turn and {j-Spades} river, forcing him to make his exit from the table with cracked aces.

"When you have aces, you win. When the other guy has aces, you also win!" noted Tom Orpaz.

"It's a good strategy," replied Seidel.

Thorel Doubles Through Pardo

Niveau 6 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

Action was picked up on the river with the board reading {q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} in a heads-up pot between Juan Pardo and Jean-Noel Thorel.

Pardo bet 14,000 and Thorel raised all in for about 46,000. Pardo used a time extension before tossing in a chip for a call.

Thorel showed {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a rivered nut straight, while Pardo also showed a strong holding with {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for top two pair.

Addamo Falls

Niveau 7 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

Action was picked up on a flop of {7-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{3-Clubs} in a three-way pot. Michael Addamo checked from the small blind and Pascal Lefrancois bet 1,200. Sven Andersson flat-called in late position before Addamo check-raised to 4,000. Only Lefrancois called.

Addamo checked on the {8-Hearts} turn and Lefrancois bet 7,000. Addamo called. Addamo checked again on the {q-Spades} river and Lefrancois put out a stack of chips to put Addamo all in for around 25,000. Addamo snap-called.

Lefrancois showed {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a turned set and Addamo winced as he showed {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for two pair before leaving the tournament area. The Australian had gotten short early in the day and managed to crawl back to a healthy stack before the hand that doomed him.

Orpaz Raises Antonius, Antonius Raises Orpaz

Niveau 9 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Tom Orpaz - Patrik Antonius
Tom Orpaz - Patrik Antonius

The floor was called to Table 1 to address confusion during the final hand before the break between Patrik Antonius and Tom Orpaz.

As Antonius told the floor, he bet 2,500 on the flop of {k-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Orpaz threw out two 5,000 chips, which the floor ruled was a raise to 10,000. Orpaz argued that he threw out the chips one at a time and had meant to call. The floor determined that Orpaz had made a singular motion and therefore it would be a raise.

"Whatever, it's a raise. I meant to raise, anyway," he joked.

Antonius then reraised to 22,000 and Orpaz called before checking dark. The turn brought the {4-Hearts} and Antonius pushed all in, prompting a snap-fold from Orpaz.

It might have been a bluff from Antonius as he showed the {5-Diamonds}, but Orpaz had already turned away from the table.

Watson and Dvoress Eliminated

Niveau 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Mike Watson
Mike Watson

Damian Salas raised to 3,200 in middle position and Mike Watson three-bet jammed a short stack as the player next to act. Salas called when the action folded back around.

Mike Watson: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Damian Salas: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The flop landed {3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for Watson to pick up a club draw with his live cards, but the board bricked out {4-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} to mark his elimination.

At the same time at the next table over, Daniel Dvoress open-jammed a stack of around 27,000 in late position and Michael Addamo made a reluctant call from the big blind.

Daniel Dvoress: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Michael Addamo: {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

The flop of {6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{a-Clubs} was not what Dvoress wanted to see as Addamo had flopped two pair, but the {8-Clubs} turn gave him life with a club draw.

"Really?" Dvoress said in disbelief.

"Spicy!" someone commented.

Alas, the {2-Spades} on the river was a brick for Dvoress and he was eliminated. Addamo is making the most of his third and final bullet and currently sits among the chip leaders.
