2023 PokerStars EPT Paris
There was an incredible start to the year with the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and PokerStars Players NL Hold’em Championship at the stunning Baha Mar Resort in The Bahamas.
And PokerStars Ambassador Nick Walsh says that things are heading in a really good direction when it comes to the live poker scene.
“The French — they absolutely love poker,” he told PokerNews. I'm expecting a very, very large event. Not just because of where live poker is right now, but I know it's been a while since we've had a stop close enough for the French to attend that wasn't Monte Carlo.”
Upon completion of level 13, as many remaining contestants have been sent into a scheduled 20-minute break. Only six of them will make the money.
In the final hand before the break, Ren Lin raised and fired one bet against Orpen Kisacikoglu until the river. He then made it 25,000 to go and Kisacikoglu raised to 185,000 with the obligatory chip behind.
Lin mulled it over and then folded, asking to see one card. Kisacikoglu approved that and the was flipped over after being picked by Lin.
Over on the other table, Tauan Naves raised to 21,000 from under the gun and Felipe Ketzer called in the cutoff. Naves check-called the flop for 12,000 and the turn for 60,000.
After the river, Naves checked again and Ketzer bet 173,000 while keeping one T-1,000 and his T-25,000 chip denominations behind. Naves tanked and used one time bank, then sigh-folded.

Felipe Ketzer raised to 23,000 on the button and Niklas Astedt jammed all in for 98,000 in the small blind. The big blind folded and Ketzer quickly called to put Astedt at risk.
Niklas Astedt:
Felipe Ketzer:
Astedt was in a dominating position and the board of left it that way to earn the Swede a double-up.

Chris Brewer raised to 16,000 and was called by Ren Lin as well as Tom Orpaz on the button. Sam Grafton then moved all-in for 59,000 in the small blind and Nick Petrangelo reraised to 110,000.
Brewer quickly let go while Lin mulled it over for almost the entire 30-second shot clock to then fold. Orpaz also gave it some consideration but let go, too.
"How do you wake up with aces there, Nicky?" Grafton said, having been silent until then. When the cards were revealed, Grafton was suddenly all smiles, though.
Sam Grafton:
Nick Petrangelo:
"If I win this hand with king-high, you can pick dinner anywhere," the jovial Brit instantly offered and then meshed the cards of both players before the dealer separated them again.
Somehow, king-high indeed won the pot on the runout and Grafton then praised Petrangelo for more than three minutes despite having lost the hand. "That's how he wins all the money ... he just slapped you all," Grafton declared.
Petrangelo didn't say a single word and maintained a dry smile on the face throughout.

Felipe Ketzer invested 23,000 from under the gun to pick up a call only by Adrian Mateos out of the big blind. That led the duo to the flop on which Mateos check-called a continuation bet of 8,000.
After the turn had paired the board, Mateos check-called for another 18,000 and the river completed the board. This time, both players checked for Mateos to reveal for a missed flush draw. Ketzer had that beat with the to win the pot and retain his top spot.

In a hand that started before the blinds moved up and carried over to the new level, the open raise by Orpen Kisacikoglu was called only by Sam Grafton on the button. The flop brought the chips into the middle and Kisacikoglu held the effective stack of 119,000 behind.
Orpen Kisacikoglu:
Sam Grafton:
Kisacikoglu was trailing but had six outs at his disposal with the gutshot on top. Instead, he got there with the turn and held onto the lead with the river to send Grafton back to a short stack once more.
