The €25,000 No-Limit Hold'em III Kicks off at 7 p.m.

EPT Paris Trophy
EPT Paris Trophy

As the 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris festival is winding down, there is still time for one final high-stakes tournament on the schedule with the €25,000 No-Limit Hold'em III slated to begin at 7 p.m. local time. The turnouts have exceeded expectations thus far and this tournament surely won't disappoint.

There have been many high-stakes events throughout the last two weeks and Chris Brewer has had the most success thus far. Brewer, who many joke is often on the wrong side of a cold deck, has captured two titles so far at EPT Paris including the €50,000 EPT Super High Roller. The American took home a seven-figure payout in USD for his win in that tournament and also won a single-day €25,000 event for over €350,000.

While the €10,000 EPT High Roller is currently taking place with many notables still in the field, this tournament will surely attract some of the best players in the game who are looking for one last crack at a big score before their trip comes to a close. Steve O'Dwyer, Mike Watson, Sam Greenwood, Ben Heath, and Seth Davies are among those expected to contest Brewer for a shot at the title.

This event will take place over the course of two days with just 10 levels being played this evening. The action is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. local time with registration open throughout the evening. The levels will be 30 minutes in length with two 15-minute breaks during the night.

This will be a single reentry event with late registration staying open until the start of Day 2 tomorrow at 12 noon. A starting stack will be worth 100,000 chips with the blinds starting at 500/1,000 and a 1,000 big blind ante. The first eight levels will actually consist of four double levels to allow for more play in the early going.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor to bring you live updates throughout the evening so be sure to stay tuned in.

Watson Fires Twice

Niveau 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Jean-Noel Thorel raised to 2,500 in the cutoff and was called by Mike Watson on the button and Stephen Chidwick in the small blind. The flop came {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades} and the action checked to Watson who bet 3,000. Chidwick called and Thorel got out of the way.

The turn was the {10-Hearts} and Chidwick checked again. Watson used his entire 30 seconds before dropping in a bet of 6,000. Chidwick quickly folded and Watson collected the pot.

Jaffe and Ponakovs Check It Down

Niveau 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Aleksejs Ponakovs raised it up on the button and Jonathan Jaffe three-bet to 13,500 from the small blind. Ponakovs called and they went heads-up to a flop of {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. Jaffe checked and Ponakovs used a time bank before doing the same.

The turn brought the {7-Clubs} and both players checked to the {a-Clubs} on the river. Jaffe checked for the third time and Ponakovs tapped the table as well. Jaffe flipped over {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Ponakovs looked sideways as he mucked his cards.

Watson Doubles Through Chidwick

Niveau 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Mike Watson
Mike Watson

Just one hand after getting his pocket aces cracked, Mike Watson raised it up from under the gun and was called by Stephen Chidwick and Jean-Noel Thorel.

The flop came {j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and the action checked to Chidwick who bet 2,500. Thorel check-raised to 6,500 and Watson three-bet to 18,000. Chidwick shoved all in which got Thorel to fold and Watson called off his last 48,000 chips.

Mike Watson: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Stephen Chidwick: {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Chidwick flopped a pair with a flush draw but needed to improve against Watson's pair of kings. The {a-Spades} and {2-Spades} runout provided no help and Watson doubled up.

Mulder Off to a Hot Start, Eliminates Dvoress

Niveau 2 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

Teun Mulder already had a healthy stack of 200,000 chips in front of him after laying a beating on Sirzat Hissou moments earlier. When Daniel Dvoress opened to 2,500 under the gun, Mulder reraised to 8,000 on his left. Dvoress called and the dealer fanned a flop of {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}.

Dvoress led out with a bet of 6,000 and Mulder just called to see the {3-Clubs} on the turn. Dvoress checked this time and Mulder splashed in a bet of 15,000. Dvoress called and the {j-Hearts} completed the board.

Dvoress checked again and Mulder dumped in a bet of 75,000 this time. Dvoress was sitting with 65,500 and went into the tank for over a minute before calling it off. Mulder showed {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of nines while Dvoress could only muster {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for a pair of eights.
