Michel Leibgorin opened to 45,000 from the hijack and was faced with a three-bet jam to 200,000 by Mehdi Rebai on the button. Action folded back to Leibgorin, who made the quick call.
Mehdi Rebai: A♥K♦
Michel Leibgorin: Q♥J♥
Rebai was ahead, but the flop came Q♠7♣4♣ to give Leibgorin top pair queens, and the 4♥ turn and 5♣ river did not alter matters.
The action was caught on the turn with the board reading 8♥6♥J♥J♠. Najib Shacar bet 50,000 from early position and was met with a raise to 125,000 by Mengshi Tian on the button. Shacar called.
Shacar checked the 4♣ river and faced a bet of 225,00 by Tian. Shacar quickly called and was shown K♥9♥ by Tian for a flush. Shacar had that beat as he tabled 6♦6♣ for a turned full house, winning him the pot
Action was followed from the J♥J♣6♠ flop. Andrii Andrieiev was under the gun and up against Leandro Cardoso in the cutoff.
Both players checked the flop and saw the 6♥ turn. Andrieiev bet around 100,000 and Cardoso called.
The K♠ came on the river and Andrieiev moved all in, Cardoso paused before making the call and both players flipped their cards over.
Andrii Andrieiev: 6♣5♣
Leandro Cardoso: 9♦9♣
Andrieiev made a boat by the turn and secured a double up through Cardoso.
Yunsheng Sun moved all in from under the gun for 270,000, and action folded to Arnaud Enselme on the button, who made the call.
Yunsheng Sun: J♣J♦
Arnaud Enselme: A♠Q♣
Sun was ahead in a race, and Enselme whiffed the 10♦3♦4♣9♥7♠ runout to send Sun the double-up.
Action folded around to Maria Konnikova in the hijack who shoved for around 300,000. Takahiro Tsugu then reshoved from the small blind with a covering stack and all other players got out of the way leaving Konnikova at risk.
Maria Konnikova: 9♥9♠
Takahiro Tsugu: A♦A♥
Konnikova was in bad shape against the best possible starting hand and couldn't catch up on the 6♦J♦J♥Q♣3♣ runout, resulting in her elimination while Tsugu scooped a sizable pot.
Brandon Sheils shoved from the cutoff for 305,000 with Victor Pahon making the call from the button to put him at risk.
Brandon Sheils: A♣4♠
Victor Pahon: A♦K♦
Sheils was dominated by Pahon's big slick and needed to find some help to survive. The runout of 3♥8♦7♠4♥5♠ was the board Sheils was looking for as he paired his four on the turn to win the pot and double up.
Garry Smith was all-in from an early position with a short stack, and got a call from Joshua Hopkins in the cutoff. Jiaze Li re-jammed from the big blind and Hopkins made the call, putting two players at risk of elimination as Hopkins covered both opponents.
Garry Smith: Ax9♥
Jiaze Li: A♠K♦
Joshua Hopkins: AxJ♥
The 8♣9♦4♥K♥8♦ runout was good for Li as a pair of kings was enough to secure him a big chip-up. Smith busted the tournament in 91st place.
Peter Kvisthammar opened to 40,000 from under the gun, and was met with a three-bet jam to 145,000 by Marian Dicu in middle position.
Action folded to Igor Pihela in the cutoff, who four-bet jammed for 535,000. Action came back to Kvisthammar, who asked for a count, then called, covering both players.
Marian Dicu: A♥8♥
Igor Pihela: 4♦4♠
Peter Kvisthammar: A♠K♦
Dicu was in trouble with a dominated ace, while Pihela was in decent shape, ahead with a pocket pair versus two sets of overcards, but his opponents sharing outs.
Kvisthammar looked set to take a monster pot after the K♣Q♥3♠ flop gave him top pair kings, but the 4♥ rolled off on the turn to give Pihela a set. It also provided Dicu with the nut flush draw.
There was another twist to come, as the 7♥ hit on the river to give Dicu the flush and the triple up, while Pihela consoled himself with taking a chunky 780,000 side pot.
Dicu indulged in some relatively understated celebrations after the river hit, perhaps understandable after he looked in terrible shape after the flop, and it also prompted some slight laughter from the rest of the table.
Kvisthammar wasn't happy, stating "I don't find that funny, by the way, his play".
