Day 1b of $3,300 Main Event Kicks Off at Noon
Day 1b of the 2023 Merit Poker Gangster Series $3,300 Main Event here at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino is set to kick off today at noon local time. Russia's Aleksei Petrov leads the way from the first starting flight, finishing Day 1a with an impressive 766,000 chips. A new group of contenders will try to replicate that success in today's Day 1b flight.

Other notables to survive yesterday's Day 1a include Adem Marjanovic (525,000), Selahaddin Bedir (430,500), Victor Yugay (279,000), Yunsheng Sun (267,500), Matthew Davenport (255,000) and Merit Poker regulars Anton Markov (170,000) and Koray Korkmaz (154,000).
Day 1b will feature the same structure as yesterday's Day 1a. Players will start with 100,000 chips and play nine 60-minute levels. There will be a break after every two levels. Unlimited reentries and late registration will be available until the end of Level 14 on Day 2.
Those who bag and tag at the end of the night will join the survivors from yesterday's flight in advancing to Day 2 on December 1. Before that, there will be two more starting flights, with Day 1c beginning at noon local time on November 30 and a turbo Day 1d set to begin at 7:30 p.m. the same day.
Day 1a attracted a total of 155 entrants vying to take home the title and lion's share of the $1,500,000 guaranteed prize pool. That number is expected to grow substantially starting today, with three more starting flights left to go. El Siblani called another bet from Netaliev on the 3♦ turn, this time for 7,500.
The river was the 9♦. Netaliev bet a third time for 15,000 and El Siblani made the call.
Netaliev tabled A♦J♦ for top pair, top kicker.
"Very nice hand" El Siblani told his opponent as he sent his hand into the muck allowing Netaliev to take down a sizable early pot.

"No respect you guys. No respect" Kupoluyi joked as the flop was dealt.
All four players checked the flop and turn leading to a final board of 5♣4♥3♥K♦5♥. Wei bet 2,500, Kupoluyi raised to 7,200, Kupoluyi and Joumaa got out of the wahy and Wei made the call.
Kupoluyi tabled A♥2♥ for a five-high straight flush and Wei's hand hit the muck.
