Jontulovic Makes a Big Call and Fades Gromov's Outs

Bogdan Jontulovic opened to 600,000 from the hijack and got called by Vedat Yilmaz in the small blind & Dmitry Gromov in the big blind.

The flop fell 4♦K♥2♦ which was checked to Jontulovic, who fired 525,000. Yilmaz quickly folded, and Gromov shoved. Jontulovic had around 2,600,000 behind and put all of his timebank cards into the middle while he contemplated a call for his tournament life. Eventually, after around two minutes, Jontulovic called.

Jontulovic had made the right call but had to fade a plethora of outs as Gromov had overcards and a flush draw. Some of those outs were removed when the 4♣ turn improved Jontulovic to trips, and the 2♠ river gave him a full house, which doubled him up.

Wigg Backdoors Trips and Holds Big Chip Lead

On the 8♦9♦A♣ flop, Jontulovic check-called a bet of 375,000 from Wigg to see the K♥ drop on the turn, which went check-check.

A board-pairing K♠ dropped on the river and after Jontulovic checked, Wigg fired a big bet of 1,900,000. Some moments passed and eventually Jontulovic decided to call.

Khorchidian checked and Yilmaz fired 850,000, Khorchidian called to see the 10♦ river, which both players quickly checked to see a showdown.

"Five," said Khorchidian before he revealed 7♠5♥. "Five is good," replied Yilmaz.

"Not just good, it's very good!," said Khorchidian.

Yilmaz Flops a Full House and Double Check-Raises

Dmitry Gromov had raised from under the gun and Vedat Yilmaz called from the big blind.

The flop came 7♣3♦7♠ and after Yilmaz checked, Gromov fired 300,000. Yillmaz then check-raised to 600,000, and Gromov called.

On the K♣ turn, Yilmaz checked it over and Gromov fired out 1,000,000. Yilmaz then put in the double check-raise and made it 3,000,000.

"How much are you playing?" asked Gromov to Yilmaz. "Around eight million," he replied.

Eventually Gromov decided to fold, and Yilmaz was kind enough to show he flopped a full house with 7♦3♣.

"Congratulations," said Gromov.

It was a fair fight and a flip that Tannoury needed to win, otherwise he would be eliminated. It wasn't a great start for the Lebanese player as the flop of A♠2♥4♣ gave Gromov a pair of aces. No help arrived on the 4♦ turn or 10♦ river, and Tannoury was out.

State Puts on a Cape, Makes Correct Ace-High Hero Call

Adrian State raised from early position and Naji Tannoury called from the big blind.

They went to a flop of 8♣Q♦J♦ where Tannoury check-called a bet of 300,000 from State to see the J♣ turn, which went check-check.

An 8♠ on the river double-paired the board and Tannoury reached for chips and fired out 825,000. State went into the tank and was squeezing his stress ball for a while before he took off his sunglasses and looked at the board a bit closer. Two timebank cards later, State called.

Tannoury was reluctant to show but eventually revealed K♠9♠ for king-high, and State showed A♣7♣ for ace-high to scoop the pot.

In the very first hand dealt, Felipe Ketzer was eliminated!

Anton Wigg opened from under the gun and Ketzer looked at a leaflet that shows the poker hand rankings before he moved all-in for 1,275,000 from the next seat. Adrian State on the button also looked at the leaflet before he folded, and Bogdan Jontulovic then four-bet from the small blind. Wigg didn't need to think for too long before he folded.

Ketzer was already in the process of standing up when the flop came down 6♣A♥Q♦, which gave Jontulovic top two pair. Only a ten could save Ketzer, but he couldn't find it as the 5♦7♥ runout meant he was the first player to be eliminated.
