Dmitriy Kopyl Leads After partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia Main Event Day 1B

Niveau 8 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Day 1B Chip Leader Dmitriy Kopyl
Day 1B Chip Leader Dmitriy Kopyl

Day 1B of the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia Main Event attracted 313 players, slightly more than the 262 that Day 1A attracted.

That figure of 313 includes both players that qualified through Phase satellites on partypoker, as well as direct entries here at the Sochi Casino & Resort in the Krasnaya Polyana region of Russia.

After eight 60-minute levels it is Dmitriy Kopyl who is the clear chip leader with 5,924,000 leading the 204 advancing to Day 2.

Other big stacks include Gary Banks (3,560,000), Gerald Karlic (3,446,000), Konstantin Generalov (3,267,000) and Aleksei Kozlov (3,201,000).

Other notables advancing include Konstantin Puchkov (2,750,000), Bertrand Grospellier (2,240,000), Martin Kabrhel (1,936,000), Jeff Hakim (1,761,000), Vitaly Lunkin (1,450,000), Sergey Lebedev (1,330,000), Eugene Katchalov (1,301,000) and Philipp Zukernik (1,030,000).

Pierre Neuville

Another big stack advancing to Day 2 is 2015 WSOP November Niner Pierre Neuville (pictured above). The 74-year-old was active throughout the day, and appeared to never be out of a pot in the early goings. Despite a rollercoaster day at times, he bagged a healthy 3,470,000.

partypoker Sponsored Pro Jan-Peter Jachtmann was among the players to bust and re-enter. He paid off the Aces of Martin Kabrhel for most of his chips, and then got it in with top-pair and a flush draw against a flopped straight. His second bullet went slightly better, and he will be taking through 1,680,000 in chips to Day 2.

Another partypoker Sponsored Pro who will be joining him in Day 2 is Johnny Lodden who bagged up a healthy 2,866,000 at the end of today’s eight levels of play.

Lodden secured a huge double up through Vladimiar Karakiyan on a {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop. Lodden moved all in with pocket Kings, and managed to get called by the King-Jack of Karakiyan. The turn and river were both blanks, and that was enough to get him up over the two million chip mark.

Johnny Lodden

Day 2 starts tomorrow at 4 p.m., but not before a special Turbo Day 1C has been played and the final list of players advancing to Day 2 confirmed. Day 1C will start at 12 p.m. and has special 20-minute levels.

Stay tuned to PokerNews.com for all your live updates from the Sochi Casino & Resort as we get closer to finding out who will take down the latest partypoker MILLIONS tournament.

Steve O'Dwyer Eliminated

Niveau 8 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Steve O'Dwyer doubled up one player all-in preflop when his {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts} failed to catch up to his opponent's {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. That left him with around 260,000 and that went in the next hand.

One player limped, another three bet and O'Dwyer moved all in. The initial limper folded and the other player called with {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. O'Dwyer held {k-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

The flop was a good one for O'Dwyer coming {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Spades}. The turn was the {2-Hearts}, but the river was the {a-Diamonds} which eliminated O'Dwyer.

"Oh well," he said, "I'll try again."

Lodden Doubles; Geshkenbein Busts Ganeev

Niveau 8 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Johnny Lodden
Johnny Lodden

Murat Ganeev raised and four-bet all in for what appeared to be 295,000, picking up a quick call by Vladimir Geshkenbein.

Murat Ganeev: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Vladimir Geshkenbein: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The {J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop left Ganeev drawing very thing, and he was done for the day on the {A-Diamonds} turn. A meaningless {4-Diamonds} river was just a formality.

Johnny Lodden doubled up in a big pot against Vladimir Karakiyan. On the three-way flop of {J-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, Lodden bet out of the small blind for 155,000 and Karakiyan raised to 500,000 in the big blind. A third player in the hand folded and Lodden moved all in, Karakiyan sighed and called.

Johnny Lodden: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Vladimir Karakiyan: {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

The {6-Spades} turn and {2-Diamonds} river were blanks and Lodden doubled for 1,006,000.

Pierre Neuville raised to 40,000 from the hijack and Moritz Dietrich three-bet to 140,000 out of the small blind.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} and Dietrich continued for 80,000. Neuville then raised his young German opponent to 180,000.

Dietrich went deep into the tank but eventually brushed the cards towards the muck.

"Do you want to see?" asked Neuville.

"No!" replied Dietrich, but Neuville turned over {8-Spades}{6-Spades} and took down the pot.

A Big Double for Papazian

Alexandru Papazian
Alexandru Papazian

Alexandru Papazian raised from the button and Nicolas Le Floch three-bet the small blind, which Pierre Neuville called from the big blind. Papazian came along for the three-way flop of {Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts} and Le Floch continued for 120,000. Neuville called and Papazian raised to 360,000, forcing out Neuville while Le Floch called.

The duo checked the {6-Clubs} turn and Le Floch shoved the {7-Diamonds} river. "I call," Papazian announced and Le Floch turned over {K-Spades}{J-Spades} for a busted gutshot. Papazian also had a gutshot on the flop, but got there with {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} to double for 1,017,000. Le Floch was left with 40,000 and busted soon after.

Jachtmann and Romanello Eliminated

Niveau 6 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Roberto Romanello
Roberto Romanello

After losing the big pot against Martin Kabrhel, Jan-Peter Jachtmann was sent to the rail soon after. He picked up top pair and a flush draw on a king-high turn only to run into a flopped straight.

As for fellow partypoker Sponsored Pro Roberto Romanello, he got into a raising war with table neighbor Evgeny Talagaev and the 1.6 million pot saw him in prime position to chip up with {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} versus {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Unfortunately, Talagaev who had shoved into the Welsh wizard, got there right away with a jack in the window on the board of {J-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

"I gonna play online now, but will be back tomorrow," Romanello promised. Whether that will be for the turbo heat 1c or during the first levels of Day 2 remains to be seen. The same also applies for Jachtmann.

Kabrhel Gets Paid Off

Marin Kabrhel

A big pot was brewing on the table of Jan-Peter Jachtmann and it had to be no other than Martin Kabrhel who was involved as well. This time, however, Kabrhel was not talking as much while he bet for 210,000 on the {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} turn. Jachtmann called and the {10-Hearts} river completed the board.

Kabrhel bet 601,000 for two third the pot with 500,000 behind and Jachtmann was sent into the think tank.

"You bet the turn so big, with a set you would not bet so big. Maybe I am totally wrong," Jachtmann added and ultimately called. Kabrhel, who had not set a word during the late stage of the hand, sliently rolled over {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and scooped a big pot.
