Wang Below a Million

Niveau 10 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante

The theatre area features five tables and among those are two of the biggest stacks of the tournament right now in Dmitriy Kopyl and Matt Eardley.

Dmitry Chop chipped up slightly after a hand with Dmitry Kopyl. A rather unfortunate run out on the board {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{J-Spades}{5-Spades} saw both players check the river and Chop turned over {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} for the straight to claim the pot.

Michael Wang has dropped below the starting stack after a three-bet pot with Aneris Adomkevicius. The Lithuanian opened to 50,000 and Wang three-bet to 130,000, which Adomkevicius called. Both players checked the {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop and the {7-Diamonds} turn. Adomkevicius bet the {9-Spades} river for 350,000 and the bet was not even cut out yet when Wang already mucked his cards.

Lloyd Busts in Upper Cash Game Area

Niveau 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Sean Lloyd doubled his tiny stack with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} versus {J-Spades}{7-Spades} before moving all in again the next hand. He was called by both players in the blinds including Mikhail Korotkikh and the remaining two players checked down the board {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}.

The small blind showed {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}, Korotkikh tabled {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades} and Lloyd mucked {8-Clubs}{2-Spades}.

Below are further assorted counts of players in the upper cash game area, in which Aleksandr Lavashov appears to be the chip leader.

Get Your Coates

Niveau 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

David Coates called a raise from the hijack position to 50,000 while sat on the button. He was then faced with an all-in from the big blind for 330,000 and made the call.

"I held {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}," Coates told us after the hand played out, "He held {A-Spades}{5-Spades} and the flop came {K-}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} with two clubs. The {10-Clubs} came on the turn and the river was the {9-Clubs}."

That latest knockout pot gave Coates over 2.4 million chips, and he's looking in good shape for a deep run here in Sochi.

Former Grand Slam Tennis Player Yevgeny Kafelnikov Doubles Through partypoker Pro Roberto Romanello

Niveau 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Roberto Romenello
Roberto Romenello

Yevgeniy Kafelnikov raised to 40,000 from middle position and Roberto Romanello three-bet to 275,000 from the big blind. Kafelnikov called.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Romanello check-called a bet of 150,000 from his opponent.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}, pairing the board, and again Romanell check-called a bet of 250,000 from Kafelnikov.

The river was the {3-Spades} and Romanello check-called for a third time. This time Kafelnikov slid out a bet of 525,000 and Romanello went into the tank.

"Queen-ten?" asked Romanello, "Nothing else I beat..."

"Quads," replied Kafelnikov.

Eventually Romanello called and Kafelnikov tabled {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for a full house.

"No Yevgeny," said tablemate Anatoly Filatov, "That's a Full House!"

Richard Dubini Doubles Through Fellow partypoker Sponsored Pro Anatoly Filatov

Niveau 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Richard Dubini
Richard Dubini

Richard Dubini raised to 45,000 from the cutoff. The button called and fellow partypoker Sponsored Pro Anatoly Filatov, who had already doubled up the player to his right twice, called in the small blind. The big blind called as well and the four players each saw the {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop.

Filatov bet 50,000, the big blind folded before Dubini raised to 200,000. The button folded and Filatov asked how much Dubini had. The answer was somewhere in the region of 600,000. Filatov then called.

Both players check-called the {3-Diamonds} turn before the river came the {5-Diamonds}. Filatov moved all in and Dubini snap-called.

"Three pair," announced Filatov, tabling {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, but Dubini held {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for a flush.

"Ah," exclaimed Filatov, "The nuts!"

The players now sit on equal stacks at the same table in the theatre.

Bustouts; New Faces and More

Niveau 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Alexandru Papazian had a big stack on Day 1b before things went horribly wrong and has entered today to find a seat just one table over from where the drama unfolded. The start for the Romanian was promising, while Andrey Kotelnikov and Mikhail Shalamov busted in the main tournament room.

Leon Tsoukernik already busted on his first bullet and re-entered, and the two Belorussian online qualifiers Viacheslau Padlobny and Siarhei Lasski ran out of chips.

Marek Blasko's stack was cut done somewhat after he paid off his table neighbor with {A-Spades}{K-Spades} and he dropped to around 60 big blinds, which is still plenty in the first level of Day 2.

Backup Plan for Dashti

Niveau 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

The seat of Ghanim Dashti was empty and Robin Hegele confirmed what had happened. Hegele's raise on the button was called by Dashti in the big blind, who pushed a {A-Diamonds}{Q-}{2-Diamonds} flop with {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a flush draw. Hegele called with {A-}{2-} and an ace on the turn left Dashti drawing dead.

However, since he had two stacks through and picked the smaller one to try and run up a miracle, he now sits on a different table with the stack of Day 1b.

Jeff Lisandro Straight Flushes Ruben Sahnazarov Out of the Main Event

Niveau 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Jeff Lisandro
Jeff Lisandro

Jeff Lisandro raised to 52,000 from early position and Ruben Sahnazarov defended his big blind. The flop came {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Sahnazarov checked to Lisandro.

Lisandro continued for 52,000 and Sahnazarov check-raised to 200,000. Lisandro called.

The turn was the {6-Hearts} and both players checked.

The river was the {3-Clubs} and Sahnazarov moved all in for 260,000. Lisandro quickly called. Sahnazarov tabled {9-Spades}{3-Spades} for two-pair, but Lisandro had turned a straight flush with {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and that was good enough to eliminate his opponent.

"I gave him time to find something," said Lisandro as he added his opponent's chips to his stack, "On the river he found something! Don't rush players, give them time!"

Niveau 9 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Richard Dubini was eliminated and re-entered to find himself with fellow partypoker Sponsored Pros Roberto Romanello and Anatoly Filatov. There is one further star on the table in former Russian tennis legend Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Romanello had to forfeit some chips against the Russian.

Kafelnikov raised to 55,000 and Romanello three-bet to 202,000 in the big blind, which Kafelnikov called. On the {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, Romanello continued for 230,000 and folded to a three-bet worth 575,000 by Kafelnikov.
