$5,300 Main Event
Jour 1b a débuté
One starting flight is in the books but two more remain in the partypoker Caribbean Poker Party 2018 $5,300 Main Event, and it's time for Day 1b at the lovely Baha Mar Resort.
On Day 1a, 185 entries were registered in the eight-level flight, which saw registration remain open throughout play. About two-thirds of those made it through, with Francois Billard and partypoker pro Joao Simao leading the way around the 4 million mark, up from the starting stack of 1 million.
An identical schedule is planned for Day 1b, with players again receiving starting stacks of 1 million and playing one-hour levels, breaks every two levels. A 90-minute dinner break is on the docket after the sixth level. One reentry is permitted per player, with blinds winding up at 8,000/16,000 with a 16,000 big blind ante on the day's final level. Blinds begin at 2,000/5,000/5,000.
With the event only a fraction of the way to meeting its lofty $2 million guarantee, a large field should be in the offing, especially judging by the $25,500 MILLIONS World that's pushing toward 300 entries. Players eliminated after registration ends in that one will likely head right over to the Main Event.
Keep an eye on the updates here throughout the day on PokerNews.

It's a slow start to Day 1b as just one player has gone bust in the first hour. However, there are quite a few new faces who did not fire Day 1a, like Chino Rheem, Jeremy Ausmus and Kevin Eyster.

In what looked to be a reraised pot with about 270,000 in the middle, two players checked to Pablo Fernandez, who bet 125,000 on . Ioannis Angelou-Konstas called in the small blind and the third player mucked. On the turn, Angelou-Konstas checked. Fernandez thought about 30 seconds then jammed for 453,000 effective.
That was met with a snap-called as Angelou-Konstas had the for top set. Fernandez could only shake his head and show , dead to the river.
