Mortensen Takes the Overall Chip Lead After Day 1c

Niveau 12 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Morten Mortensen
Morten Mortensen

The biggest starting day of the €10,300 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Grand Final Barcelona Main Event in the Casino Barcelona is over after twelve levels of play. This third starting day brought 383 players to the poker tables today who all coughed up the €10,300 buy-in to have a shot at taking home their share of that €10,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. Only 110 players have managed to find a bag at the end day and the player with the most chips in their bag is Morten Mortensen with 11,655,000 in chips.

This also means that Mortensen takes the overall chip lead right now if it’s compared to the chip counts over Day 1a and 1b. Only slightly trailing in second place in the chip counts is Sergey Lebedev with 11,350,000. And closing the podium is Ramin Hajiyev with 9,970,000 who won most of those chips in a preflop six-betted pot to eliminate Alexandros Papadopoulos from the tournament.

As expected, the crème de la crème of poker was in full force today, but not everyone was lucky enough to make it through and have had to try their luck again. Players like Fabrice Soulier, Pierre Merlin, Romain Lewis, Michael Zhang, Igor Yaroshevskyy, Paul Hoefer, Bryan Piccioli, Mike Leah, Martin Finger, Georgios Sotiropoulos, Rainer Kempe, Joni Jouhkimainen, Maria Lampropulos, Kalidou Sow, Anthony Zinno and Maria Ho.

The 110 players that survived Day 1c will come together with the 133 players from Day 1a and 1b, and whoever survives Day 1d, for Day 2 at 13:00 local time on Friday, April 13th. They will start playing Level 13 which has a small blind of 35,000, big blind of 70,000 and a button ante of 70,000. Levels will increase to 60 minutes each and eight levels of play have been scheduled.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be there, as usual, to provide you with all the Main Event action from the start until the end!

Five More Hands

Niveau 12 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

The tournament clock has been stopped and a draw has taken place for how many hands still need to be played. On table 2, a player grabbed the five, so five more hands need to be played before the remaining players can bag and tag.

Givens Gives Nanos the Double-up

Niveau 12 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Konstantinos Nanos raised to 125,000 from the cutoff, Will Givens was next to act and he three-bet to 375,000. Nanos called.

The flop came {3-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{9-Spades}, Nanos check-called the 325,000 bet of Givens.

They both checked on the {8-Diamonds} on the turn to the {5-Hearts} on the river. Nanos bet 365,000. Givens raised to 2,000,000 which put Nanos all-in. Nanos called after about a minute. Givens had to show the bluff with {j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and was beaten by the {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} of Nanos who had flopped a pair of nines.

Papadopoulos Taken Out By Hajiyev

Niveau 12 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Ramin Hajiyev
Ramin Hajiyev

Alexandros Papadopoulos raised to 125,000 from early position. Ramin Hajiyev three-bet to 300,000 from the hijack. Konstantinos Nanos four-bet to 925,000. Papadopoulos five-bet shoved for about 3,000,000. Hajiyev checked out Nanos' stack and decided to six-bet shove with the bigger stack. Nanos tanked, he put his hand in his hair and then decided to fold {a-}{k-} with a lot of frustration.

Alexandros Papadopoulos: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Ramin Hajiyev: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {4-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{3-Spades} - Hajiyev's kings held and Papadopoulos got up from the table, shook Hajiyev's hand and left the tournament area.
