Vainqueur du Super High Roller à 100.000$ ici même aux Bahamas en janvier 2015 (pour 1,872,580$) et du HR 50.000$ en janvier 206 (pour 945,495$), Steve O'Dwyer a récidivé dans la nuit de mardi à mercredi. L'Américain a signé sa 18e victoire sur le circuit et compte désormais 21 millions de dollars de gains en tournoi : il a remporté le High Roller 50.000$ PokerStars Caribbean Adventure 2018 devant Byron Kaverman et le Français Jean-Noël Thorel.

Steve O'Dwyer s'impose sur un field de 46 entrants pour le 9e plus gros cash de sa carrière, un résultat qui le catapulte à la 10e place de la All Time Money List. Il devance désormais Sam Trickett et n'est plus qu'à un million de Phil Hellmuth.

Orpen Kisacikoglu a commencé la finale avec 7 blindes ce qui a permis au chipleader Byron Kaverman de solidifier sa position lors de la première heure de jeu. Acculé, le Turque finit par s'incliner face à Kaverman.

L'Américain met la pression mais trouve du répondant avec le deuxième tricolore de la finale : Benjamin Pollak. L'ambassadeur BetClic signe un nouveau superbe résultat mais trébuche dans un coup crucial avec {a-}{q-} contre {a-}{6-} chez ce diable de Kaverman. Finalement 5e après avoir perdu cet énorme all-in préflop, le Français débute 2018 de fort belle manière, il avait collecté près de 5 millions en 2017.

Bubble-boy du Super High Roller à 100.000$, Erik Seidel termine cette fois en 4e position pour un gain de 260 260$. Steve O'Dwyer lui donne le coup de grâce, ce qui lui permet d'être au coude à coude avec Kaverman en tête du tournoi. O'Dwyer prend l'ascendant en faisant brelan et c'est au tour de Jean-Noël Thorel de rendre les armes.

Joueur le plus âgé de la finale, le tricolore devra encore patienter pour accrocher sa première victoire, lui qui compte trois places de runner-up sur ces tournois réservés à l'élite. Sorti par Kaverman, l'amateur laisse les deux anciens n°1 du classement GPI s'expliquer pour le titre.

Kaverman et O'Dwyer ne passent pas par la case deal et la bataille tourne vite en faveur d'O'Dwyer, Derrière au chipcount à l'entame du dernier duel, le futur vainqueur passe un gros bluff et s'échappe pour conclure sur un 40-60 préflop alors que Kaverman était réduit à 10 blindes. Fan de foot, Kaverman empoche plus d'un demi million de dollars, de quoi envisager sereinement la suite du festival qui compte encore deux tournois à 25.000$ l'entrée et deux à 10.000$ l'entrée.

O'Dwyer encaisse lui 769,500$ après cette nouvelle performance à Paradise Island.

Hand 131: Byron Kaverman shoved preflop on the button for his last 640,000 with the {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Steve O'Dwyer put him at risk, calling with the {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

O'Dwyer quickly took the lead spiking a jack on the {2-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop and Kaverman failed to find any help on the {5-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} runout, falling in second place for a cool $531,860.

O'Dwyer captures yet another High Roller title and banks $769,500.

Kaverman bet 125,000 and O'Dwyer called. The {4-Diamonds} completed the board and Kaverman continued with a bet of 140,000 and O'Dwyer looked him up, taking down another pot.

Kaverman, now with a double gutshot, bet 150,000 into 110,000. O'Dwyer called to grow the pot to 410,000.

The {7-Spades} completed the board and O'Dwyer checked one last time. Kaverman surrendered and checked behind.

Hand 121: Kaverman opened with the {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and O'Dwyer called with the {q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. The flop fell {5-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and O'Dwyer check-called a bet of 100,000. The {6-Hearts} fell on the turn and O'Dwyer check-folded when Kaverman fired a bet worth 450,000.

Hand 122: O'Dwyer raised holding the {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Kaverman called with the {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. A {4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop was seen and Kaverman check-called a continuation bet from O'Dwyer.

Kaverman hit a jack when the {j-Spades} hit the turn and check-called a bet from O'Dwyer of 320,000.

The board paired with an {8-Spades} on the river and Kaverman checked once again. O'Dwyer shoved and Kaverman, running out of time, left with no timebank cards, was forced to fold.

O'Dwyer showed him the bluff and raked in the sizeable pot.

With now 680,000 in the middle, the {K-Diamonds} completed the board. It went check check and Kaverman took down the pot.

Hand 107: Byron Kaverman opened to 125,000 with the {k-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Steve O'Dwyer called with the {q-Clubs}{4-Spades}. The flop fanned out {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The {8-Clubs} fell on the turn and both checked again. The {6-Spades} was the last card to come and O'Dwyer bet 175,000. Kaverman called and his king-high was good.

Hand 108: O'Dwyer raised 125,000 with the {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and Kaverman called with the {k-Spades}{8-Hearts}. Both found a piece on the {8-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} board and O'Dwyer's continuation bet of 150,000 was check-called by Kaverman.

The turn card was the {9-Clubs} and Kaverman checked. O'Dwyer bet 300,000 and took down the pot.

Hand 109: Kaverman limped in holding the {j-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and folded when O'Dwyer raised to 225,000.

Hand 110: O'Dwyer opened with the {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and Kaverman called with the {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

A {7-Hearts}{q-Spades}{a-Clubs} flop saw O'Dwyer fire another bet and Kaverman check-called. The {9-Diamonds} hot the turn and Kaverman checked. O'Dwyer bet 250,000 and Kaverman was able to get away.

Hand 111: Kaverman opened with the {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and O'Dwyer three-bet to 380,000 with {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. Kaverman made the call bringing a {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{a-Spades} flop.

Both players checked to see the {9-Diamonds} on the turn. O'Dwyer bet 260,000 and Kaverman called.

The {3-Clubs} completed the board and O'Dwyer bet 600,000. Kaverman eventually made the call and O'Dwyer scooped a huge pot, retaking the lead.
