Greenstein Loses Some

Niveau 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Action folded around to the blinds and the player in the small completed. Barry Greenstein raised from the big and his opponent called.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and the small blind check-called a bet of 1,500 from Greenstein.

The turn brought the {K-Spades} and the small blind checked. Greenstein bet 3,200 and the small blind called.

The {10-Hearts} fell on the river and both players checked. The small blind tabled {K-Hearts}{10-Spades} for tens full, Greenstein quickly mucked, and the small blind took the pot.

A few tables over Joseph Cheong, fresh off his victory in PokerStars Sunday Supersonic for $30,939, also busted from the tournament as well. Cheong had lost most of his stack before the first break and proceeded to get rid of the rest of it before the second.

Dan Shak Bluffs Away Nearly Half His Stack

Niveau 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

Dan Shak opened with a raise to 800 from under the gun. Anatoly Zuev was on the button and he reraised, three-betting to 2,200. Shak called and the two headed to a flop.

On the {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} flop, Shak checked over to Zuev who bet 2,500. Shak called after giving it some thought.

The turn was the {A-Hearts} and this time Shak decided to lead out, making it 5,500. Zuev thought for a bit then called.

The river was the {8-Clubs} and Shak counted his chips for about a minute before making another bet, this time for 6,000. Zuev thought for a while then decided to just call. Shak showed his {J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for just two pair, but it was no good. Zuev was holding {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} for trips. Shak lost nearly half of his stack in that pot while Zuev capitalized and added to his stack.

Varpucinskis Doubles Up

Niveau 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

With about 6,000 chips already in the middle and the board reading {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, Gintaris Varpucinskis had already committed 5,200 from the cutoff and was facing a decision for the remainder of his stack from the player in the big blind. After a bit of consideration, Varpucinskis called to put himself at risk for a total of 36,125.

The big blind tabled {9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, having paired his nine on the flop, and Varpucinskis quickly flipped over {Q-Spades}{8-Spades} for queens full of eights.

"I thought you'd have queen-nine there a lot," said Varpucinskis as the dealer verified the stacks.

"You had enough of a hand to call with," his opponent replied with a smile.

Jaka Doubles One Up

Niveau 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

Action folded around to the hijack seat where Faraz Jaka opened with a raise to 700. He was called by the player in the cutoff before Peter Tschernigg shoved all in for aright 2,375. Action folded back to Jaka who raised to 5,700. The cutoff player folded so Tschernigg and Jaka turned up their hands.

Jaka: {Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Tschernigg: {10-Spades}{2-Spades}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} which gave Tschernigg a pair of tens on the river to go with the pair of nines on the board. That allowed him to double up through Jaka who dipped below the starting stack while Tschernigg's stack was boosted to over 6,000.
