Ils étaient 582 sur la ligne de départ de ce Main Event PCA 2018 et 101 survivants revenaient disputer le Jour 3, dans la nuit de jeudi à vendredi aux Bahamas.
Après 4 niveaux de 90 minutes durant lesquels l'argent a été atteint, ils ne sont que 43 à avoir emballé des jetons, toujours en course pour le premier prix de 1 081 100$. Deux joueurs ont franchi le million de jetons, le chipleader suédois Karl Stark (1 148 000) et l'Américain David Peters (1 117 000).
Chipleader en début de journée, Oleg Titov (938,000) a continué à engranger des pions tout comme Koray Aldemir (757,000), le Team Pro Winamax Adrian Mateos Diaz (620,000), Jack Sinclair (598,000) ou encore la Team Pro PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree (389,000).
Short stack officielle du tournoi, La protégée d'Erik Seidel, et gagnante du PCA National Championship Maria Konnikova est toujours là mais avec 67 000 jetons elle a du chemin à faire pour prétendre au Jour 5. Autre femme en course, l'Argentine Maria Lampropulos dispose elle d'un tapis conséquent de plus de 750 000 jetons. Elle sera à surveiller tout comme Shawn Buchanan (299 000) ou Orpen Kisacikoglu (166 000). La lutte s'annonce farouche puisqu'il n'y aura que 16 tickets pour la cinquième journée de compétition.
La suite de l'événement est d'ailleurs à suivre en streaming en Français avec les cartes révélées dès 18 heures 30, vendredi.
14 joueurs ont disputé le Jour 3 sans atteindre l'argent. Igor Yaroshevskyy, Andy Philachack, Chris “Big Huni” Hunichen et Joao Simao sont les principales victimes à avoir quitté la partie les mains vides. Nikita Neliubin a vu Barry Greenstein craquer les d'un adversaire à tapis préflop à la bulle pour survivre... et c'est donc lui qui a terminé bubble-boy.

Après cette longue période de main par main, Darren Rabinowitz (87e) et Keith Lehr (81e) ont encaissé le min-cash de 17,500$. Le Team PokerStars Pro Victor Ramdin (69e - 19,760$), le vainqueur EPT et WSOP Kevin MacPhee (67e - 19,760$), Vladimir Troyanovskiy (63e - 19,760$) et le dernier ancien vainqueur PCA encore en course, Harrison Gimbel (56e - 19,760$) n'ont pas passé fin de journée non plus.
Chanceux à la bulle, Barry Greenstein s'incline finalement en 47e position pour 22 020$, après avoir perdu avec contre chez David Peters et chez Gleidibe Brito. Un a permis à David Peters de monter une nouvelle fois des jetons et de s'annoncer comme une des forces du premier tournoi important de l'année 2018...

In a feature table hand, Jonathan West raised with from under the gun. David Peters calls from the highjack seat, as well as Gleidibe Brito with from the cutoff. Liv Boeree calls on the button with and Lucas Blanco called from the big blind as well with creating a five-way pot heading to the flop.
The flop came down and after a check from Blanco, West bet 20,000. Brito was the only caller.
The turn was the and West bet 55,000. Brito called once more.
On the river , West fired one more time, having finally made top pair. Brito thought for a long time, but eventually decided to call. West showed him the bad news and moved to 800,000 chips by collecting the pot while Brito dropped0 to 437,000 chips.

On the river, Peters checks one more time. This time Goncalves checks it back. Peters shows down his hand and that's good enough to earn him the entire pot while Greenstein is eliminated from the tournament, collecting $22,020 for his run in the Main Event.

We picked up the action on the flop of . Bartosz Stasiewicz in the small blind checked as did big blind Maria Lampropulos. Michael Farrow in the hijack bet 18,000 and Michael Kamran called from the button. Stasiewicz over called and Lampropulos called as well, to make it four-handed to the turn.
The hit the turn and Stasiewicz checked again. Lampropulos lead for 75,000 and the two Michaels folded. Stasiewicz called.
Stasiewicz checked on the river and Lampropulos bet 150,000. Stasiewicz tanked for quite a bit before he called with . Lampropulos showed and mucked.
