$100,000 PCA Super High Roller

Jour 2 a débuté

Welcome Back for Day 2 of the PCA Super High Roller

PCA Bahamas Atlantis
PCA Bahamas Atlantis

Just when you thought things were about to settle down in the Bahamas after a champion was crowned in the PSPC, the action ramped back up again as some of the best poker players in the world got together for the $100,000 Super High Roller. It's an exclusive event that kicks off the PCA every year, and fans from all over the world will have someone to cheer for.

Day 1 wrapped up last night after a full eight levels were completed. Of the 56 total entries thus far, just 33 players bagged up chips and will have a seat locked up for the start of Day 2. Late registration will remain open until the cards get in the air, leaving time for others to re-enter or take their first shot with a stack of 250,000 chips — just over 40 big blinds.

Leading the way after the opening day is European Henrik Hecklen and PokerStars Team Pro Igor Kurganov. They were the only two players to surpass the one million chip mark with 1,264,000 and 1,050,000 respectively. Some other big names to make it through with a healthy stack include Steve O'Dwyer (889,000), Sam Greenwood (792,000), Dominik Nitsche (679,000), and Talal Shakerchi (587,000) who is looking for back-to-back deep runs in high rollers here at the PCA.

The action is slated to get underway at 12:30 p.m. at which point the registration period will close. The blinds will resume on level 9 at 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 big blind ante. A total of eight levels in on tap for today with 60-minute levels and a 20-minute break after every two levels.

One table will also be moved to the feature table to be broadcast on the livestream which can be found on Twitch. The hole cards will be available and on a 30-minute delay. You can also follow all of the action here as the PokerNews live reporting team will bring you coverage straight from the tournament floor.

Shakerchi Can't Shake Foxen

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Talal Shakerchi opened to 13,000 from early position and Alex Foxen defended from the big blind. The flop fell {q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Foxen checked to Shakerchi who continued for 16,000. Foxen called and the {6-Clubs} landed on the turn.

Foxen checked again and Shakerchi fired out another 31,000. Foxen wasn't ready to give up yet as he stuck around to see the {j-Diamonds} on the river. Both players knuckled the table and Foxen flipped over {k-Spades}{9-Hearts} for the best hand.

Koon Escapes for Cheap

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Jason Koon raised to 13,000 from under the gun and Daniel Negreanu made a quick call directly to his left. Greg Jensen also came along from the big blind as the flop fell {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Jensen checked, Koon bet 25,000, and Negreanu raised to 50,000. Jensen got out of the way and Koon made the call.

The turn brought the {3-Hearts} and Koon check-called another bet of 50,000 from Negreanu. The {6-Hearts} on the river put four hearts on the board and Koon checked again. Negreanu splashed in the last of his 131,000 chips and Koon mulled it over briefly before throwing away his cards, announcing he flopped a set of aces.

"I had king-ten of hearts," Negreanu confirmed for Koon. "At least I made it cheap for you."

Jensen Binks, Eliminates Kempe

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Rainer Kempe
Rainer Kempe

On a flop of {2-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, both blinds checked to Rainer Kempe, who bet 15,000 in middle position. Both Gregory Jensen and Jason Koon called. On the {8-Clubs} turn, action again checked to Kempe and the German bet 55,000. Jensen dropped in 175,000, Koon folded, and Kempe moved all in.

Jensen asked how much, but it was only about 40,000, so he called before the count could even be confirmed.

Gregory Jensen: {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Rainer Kempe: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Kempe had turned the nuts and was fading clubs and tens. Unfortunately for him, the {3-Clubs} hit on the river to complete Jensen's flush draw.

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Benjamin Pollak bet 23,000 into 63,000 on {4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{a-Hearts} and neighbor Jean-Noel Thorel check-called him from under the gun. On the {q-Hearts} river, Thorel checked and quickly called a barrel of 65,000.

"Good call, Noel," Pollak sighed.

Thorel opened {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}.

Kruk Unleashes Three Barrels

Niveau 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Christopher Kruk raised it up on the button and Stephen Chidwick called out of the big blind. The flop came {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Chidwick check-called a bet of 14,000 from Kruk.

The {5-Spades} landed on the turn and Chidwick was faced with another bet of 53,000. He made the call and the {5-Diamonds} paired the board on the river. Chidwick checked for the third time and Kruk announced all in for just under 150,000 effective. Chidwick burned through two time extensions before finally mucking his cards.
